18th birthday- alcohol

Throwing an 18th soon for DD at home. Her friends are mostly over 18, generally sensible (famous last words) and a mix of girls and boys. We'll be at our friend's house over the road, like in Abigail's Party.

I'd like to lay on some food and drink. We can just do pizza and birthday cake for the food- what would you do for drink? Was planning some lager, prosecco, soft drinks but how much? Would rather not have dark drinks.

Dark drinks?

Like red wine

Presume you're thinking of red wine on the carpets/furniture?

I'd agree with beer and prosecco.

I went to plenty of teen parties where red wine ended up on walls and sofas, I agree with you.

Depending on number of people I'd plan for 1 bottle prosecco/4 beers per person, but I'd bet money on them bringing their own other stuff too, so maybe provide less.

Dark drinks?

They are unlikely to want to drink red wine anyway. Yes beers and some white wine and Prosecco.

They are likely to bring vodka themselves and perhaps other spirits but I'd say you don't have to provide it unless you want to.

Soft drinks water etc.

How many people?
I think it’s sensible to get some booze in, we had a big family and friends party at home for our eldests 18th and bought crates of booze but all of us oldies were here too.
She had about 15 friends round and they drank some beers and some had G&T, a few shared a bottle of Prosecco but none of them are especially big drinkers. A few don’t drink at all.
Some May turn up with their own alcohol so you don’t want to go overboard but equally it’s a party and you don’t want to scrimp!
