If could spend an hour daily on self development, what would you do?

Looking for ideas to get out of this fog and get that mental physical spark back.

I'd lie on my bed reading nineteenth century novels and dozing off.

Gnomegnomegnome · 11/09/2023 16:57

Reading

Seagullchippy · 11/09/2023 16:57

Rest and relaxation!

PerfectMatch · 11/09/2023 16:59

Exercise - running or swimming or yoga

minipie · 11/09/2023 17:02

Absolutely exercise.

If exercise is covered already then perhaps a skill that will enhance the rest of my life - in my case learning to cook better, drive more confidently, DIY, something that might lead to an alternative career one day, etc.

ChocolateCakeOverspill · 11/09/2023 17:04

Exercise and meditation

TheProvincialLady · 11/09/2023 17:06

Improve my French or German

UsefulSmartPrettyHappy · 11/09/2023 17:08

caramond · 11/09/2023 17:09

Alternate days of exercise and learning something new.

HerAvatar · 11/09/2023 17:11

Exercise and/or therapy, lots and lots of therapy!

Mrsjayy · 11/09/2023 17:12

Learning a language probably spainish I do duolingo bur I'd like a 1 to 1

Krakken · 11/09/2023 17:13

Reading - I am going to do that but not sure what to read. Fiction, I have a stack but I want non fiction too. Any suggestions?

Meditation doesn't appeal to me. Exercise yes. I'm not sure what yet.

Ideally, I'd like to split that hour up.

Yoga with Adriene videos and reading (that's what I do when I get an hour to myself). "Wild" swimming if I have just over an hour (there's nothing wild about me, middle-aged and pudgy swimming if you ask me, it's just that I like to swim in our nearest lake ...).

dontforgetme · 11/09/2023 17:17

I would have a shower, shave everywhere, wash my hair, moisturise then relax reading my kindle. An hour would fly by though.

Oblomov23 · 11/09/2023 17:17

Sit and do nothing.
I've very good at it.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 11/09/2023 17:21

30 mins brisk walk, followed by 30 mins yoga.

slowsundays · 11/09/2023 17:28

Reading and journaling.

And I don't mean 'Dear Diary' stuff. I mean a random stream of thoughts and then planning out the next day - tasks, things you want to get done etc. It's changed my life doing this every evening.

BotanicalNames · 11/09/2023 17:29

Half an hour swimming, half an hour reading :)

Chemenger · 11/09/2023 17:31

I’m enjoying Duolingo. It’s not too difficult but there is enough challenge to be engaging.

GreyBlackBay · 11/09/2023 17:39

How old are you? What's good for you at the moment and what's not? Are you more of an extrovert or an introvert?

What I think I'd do is read more but I like science /psychology/nutrition books, learning rather than enjoying.

Useful things in my mind are
Mental learning
Learning a skill
Exercise
Getting out in nature
Meditating

Or would spending the time fixing something that stresses you out be better? Sorting your finances, editing your wardrobe, decorating your bedroom?

You've said meditating not your thing but do keep it in mind for the future, very useful to deal with kid and work stresses and menopause!

Lessstressedhemum · 11/09/2023 18:06

Yoga and improving my Gaidhlig, day about probably.
