Can anyone recommend some scjo trousers easy for an only just 4 year old baby y?

I've looked in Tesco, Morrisons and Nexr already. I just want trousers that pull up and down, not hooks or buttons, and elastic aged waist (not the type you have to adjust yourself, just elastic IYSWIM). Has anyone found any? Grey not black Grin

For a 4 year old or for a baby? I'm genuinely confused.

AvengedQuince · 10/09/2023 15:05

M&S age 4 is just elastic waist with no buttons

AvengedQuince · 10/09/2023 15:09

Sorry, they are adjustable waist but only mock fastening on small sizes so easy for young children.

I don't know what this means.

HarrietJet · 10/09/2023 15:17

Your only just 4 year old is not a baby, and can wear normal school trousers.

MerryMarigold · 10/09/2023 15:21

I work with 2-4 year olds. 4 year olds are 'big boys' to me. I do agree that pull up trousers are best but even the ones with a fastening can be pulled up and down as they are all elasticated at the back. Has he not been pulling up his own trousers for a year or so since potty training?

bearfood · 10/09/2023 15:49

The title autocorrected and should of course have said 'boy' not 'baby'. Thanks to those who took time out of their day to make suggestions, checking them out now. Asda ones are perfect but OOS in his size. Grrr.

It's not a good time to be buying, many would be sold out. Has he not already started school?

Bookish88 · 10/09/2023 16:04

These have a standard elasticated waist:

We got the shorts version for DS starting reception and they're great.

FourLittleStars · 10/09/2023 17:11

Most of the school trousers in that size will be mock fastening as a pp said. To be fair though, DS is in year 2, had "proper" trousers and still just pulls them down to wee!

Try Argos, they stock the Sainsbury's Tu clothing.

Probably not if he's summer born and they do a staggered start. Ours had the oldest in first week (September-December born), week after the next set (Jan-May) and then the third week the youngest lot (June-August).

I hadn't heard of them being split by age before. Only half the class at a time on half days kind of thing but all having equal access to school. Regardless, it's late to be looking for uniform now, though unavoidable if you'd moved area last minute or something I guess.

They're always split by age; the younger ones going first.

Its the opposite way round at our school. Oldest first, youngest last. I think the idea was that the older ones would settle quicker and then the younger ones would be able to follow the older ones who were used to the routine. But this was nursery age so 3/4 rather than reception age 4/5.

It clearly differs by school. My nephew's school splits them into half days but both groups start the same day and have equal time in school.

M&S do an easy dressing range. They go up to age 18!
the grey are in stock for age 4-5

Thanks to all who have made suggestions. I've found some in Matalan which are perfect, in case anyone else is looking.
To everybody who has suggested I've left it late, he's not my child and without going into detail, I've suddenly become his guardian.

Google 'zeco fully elastic school trousers'. They're smart grey or black school trousers but full elastic all the way around the waist and stomach, and they pull up and down just like joggers, they're brilliant. DS hates the standard half elastic ones with the flat front panel as they are too tricky to pull up and down over his big thighs but he can go to the loo with no issue in these.
