Belly button sore after laparoscopic ovary removal

I posted last week about having an ovary and large cyst removed laparoscopically and thanks for all your positive responses!

Recovery has gone well and I've felt relatively normal for a few days now (surgery was on 1st). How we I've started getting pain under my belly button - it's really sore when I move and I have to take paracetamol again. Does anyone know if this is normal? Nothing visible - not sure whether to make a doctors appointment or whether to phone the ward - any advice?

It might be that the sutures are pulling. Are they dissolvable? I had to snip mine off after a couple of weeks because they wouldn’t dissolve and were pulling causing pain. TBF if it was only 9 days ago your body is still recovering, they do rummage about in there and they aren’t gentle!

Yes I probably am being impatient!!! I think that I was so pleased with recovery cause I had no pain and felt absolutely fine, that I had a false sense of thinking that was it - all over!! I'll give it a few more days!

You’re doing well! I took 3 weeks off for mine 🫣But to be fair I’d already had two c-sections so that lower incision was an absolute bastard to feel better, I felt like I’d lost all control of my thighs.

Keep an eye on it but I remember lots of random tightenings some days as the stitches healed.

@Excitedannie I would phone the ward for advice. I have had laparoscopic ovary removal and had no real pain or discomfort afterwards at all, I only needed paracetamol for 2 days so was very lucky to heal well. I was warned though that my abdominal skin was very thin, I guess because of pregnancies and because I’m slim it had stretched a lot as I had huge bumps. I was told to be extra careful around lifting, coughing and sneezing and that kind of movement to avoid an umbilical hernia.

Worth checking anyway.

Thanks - I've just phoned the ward and they said that the area im described is the area wheee they fiddle around the most so she's suggested restarting paracetamol for a couple of days and to let
It heal!!!

If you find it's getting red and hard under your belly button and if you start feeling shivery then get some more postoperative antibiotics stat. That happened to me!

awww I knew it!! Mine started like that, it was all getting better then suddenly started getting sore again. They give fewer blanket antibiotics now (for good reasons to do with slowing the pace of antibiotic resistance) but it does mean that you risk a post op infection. Hope you feel better soon x

I think I knew deep down Sad. I'm so upset as my recovery will going so well. Two days in to the antibiotics and it's not getting better yet maybe I'm being dramatic.....!
