...to take a few days off sick during my notice period

Handed in my notice last week. I really don't want to go back at all, I hate my job that much. Nothing to do of any substance. Every minute is mind numbingly boring and frustrating. No support from management. Hate it so much.

But I need to work my notice in order to get paid till my last day. My sickness record is excellent though, so for my own sanity I feel I need to take a few days off sick. Feel guilty already as I never skive

Do it!

ToxicPositivity · 09/09/2023 20:53

If you can afford it then aye you crack on.

Theraffarian · 09/09/2023 20:54

Permission granted , enjoy a few days of whatever you fancy .

It is a personal moral choice! I'd be more likely to quiet quit. I'm a bit of a rule abider (annoys me at times).

I've a friend who'd do it for sure.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 09/09/2023 20:55

Do it.

Funkyslippers · 12/09/2023 07:48

MidnightOnceMore hmmmm, correct me if I'm wrong but I'm not sure quiet quitting is any better than going off sick?!

Just be aware that many places will not pay occupational sick pay if you have time off during your notice period so it may cost you more than you think. Otherwise it's fine to do it if you can afford it.

Ineedwinenow · 12/09/2023 07:57

Do you have any holidays left? I’d take a those off instead, some companies don’t pay for sick pay during notice period ( one of my old jobs didn’t and that 4 weeks was painful so I know how your feeling)!!

Funkyslippers · 12/09/2023 16:44

No holiday left

I've actually had a meeting with the HR manager and he's confirmed I would get full sick pay even if it's during notice period

I will admit (anonymously only) to having pulled a sticky or two in a really awful job I had. So it would be hypocritical of me not to grant you my permission 😌.

It isn't ideal, but it's easy to say "do the right thing" when you don't hate your job. Hating your job is horrible. I've come close to stomping out without giving notice (but didn't). Now I love my job, so it isn't just a 'me problem'. It was the job. So I think you can do it. Preserve your sanity. Prepare / look for your new job

VeridicalVagabond · 12/09/2023 16:51

Do it, I did it when I left a job I hated. Suddenly came down with covid right after resigning, womp womp.

Funkyslippers · 13/09/2023 15:39

VeryStylishShoes oh I already have another job thank God!
