Help me book a cheap holiday for next August?

We would like to book a holiday for next August (school hols) with our friends. Both families are 2 adults, 2 kids. Beach is a must and it needs to be cheap and cheerful but not gross. We did it this year and had the most amazing time but we stayed at a bit of a dump. I think we could do better next year.
We are based in the South West and friends are East Anglia but willing to travel wherever.

Bonus points if you can pay monthly/ in chunks.

Jet2 is amazing and there are Facebook groups you can join where you get £100 off vouchers

How cheap is cheap? What's your budget?

LlynTegid · 10/09/2023 11:52

Cannot help OP, sorry. You are asking for something rare.

Honestly I'd consider going abroad, free child space with Jet2 and go somewhere with a kids club. It's worked out cheaper for us in the past to go abroad than to holiday in the UK. I took my ds abroad when he was 3 and we traveled fairly light considering.

I would be looking at coastal holiday parks in Scotland after the Scottish schools are back probably.

Or cheaper parts of the coast - Northumberland, North Wales, the Kent coast, North Yorkshire coast, North Somerset coast

Isle of Wight! The ferry is expensive for what it is but the island is beautiful, loads to do for kids, lots of lovely beaches. We normally stay in Ryde - we rent a cottage - but there are lots of other places too. Ryde beach is lovely, there is a little funfair there and other activities. If you're in National Trust/ English Heritage there are a few places which will keep costs down. Lots of caravan parks around although the prices don't seem to be massively cheaper than some cottages so look around.
