Up early before the kids thought I'll
Enjoy a nice bru and some toast. Sat enjoying my toast ate a piece and a piece left and suddenly notice mould on it. I am heaving and feel so sick at the thought of it 🤢
Is that it now, am I going to be ill

Eating Mouldly bread won’t make you Ill. X

Icycloud · 09/09/2023 08:31

Check the rest of the loaf to see if there’s much mold on it and guess wether you’ve eaten mold, or if it was just a bit of mold on that list but. if you’ll be sick it’s better out than in

Remagirl · 09/09/2023 08:32

Mouldy bread is just unpleasant. It won't make you ill.

Zippedydoodahday · 09/09/2023 08:33

You'll be fine. Bread mould is basically penicillin.

Tupperwarefan · 09/09/2023 08:33

I've eaten mouldy bread by accident many times. Never ever made me ill. You'll be absolutely fine

ArseMenagerie · 09/09/2023 08:34

Mouldy breads alright

forallthelove · 09/09/2023 08:35

I thew the whole loaf straight in the bin whilst heaving

Ew

Theblacksheepandme · 09/09/2023 08:41

You'll be grand.

Ginmonkeyagain · 09/09/2023 08:46

You will absolutely not be ill from eating bread with a spot of mould on it.

hallysally · 09/09/2023 08:47

I've picked a bit of mould off a slice of bread before shoving it in the toaster. You'll be fine. 😂

Thebigblueballoon · 09/09/2023 08:49

You’ll be fine. My mum used to leave mouldy bread in the bread bin all of the time and I’d only notice half way through a ham sandwich. Does make me sick to think about it though!

Calistano · 09/09/2023 08:50

You can eat some surprisingly manky things without getting ill. You will be fine.

Secondaryschoolstress · 09/09/2023 08:51

You’ll be fine. Goodness I wouldn’t give it a second thought. Honestly unless the whole slice was green, (which I doubt) then nothing will happen.

I once ate a raw chicken goujon (I thought they were cold cooked ones) and didn’t notice because I was quite stressed out and making myself eat something. Anyway, it was fine. Nothing happened at all….

and since then I’ve stated to not check best before dates or use by dates and now use my common sense. I.e. how has it been stored, is packaging in tact, does it smell okay etc

KimKardashiansKarpetKrab · 09/09/2023 09:26

You'll be absolutely fine. DH pinches any mouldy bits off and keeps eating! The type of mould that grows on bread is what they use to make some antibiotics. So don't worry.

forallthelove · 10/09/2023 09:06

Well I've been up all night with D&V but I think it's probably just a coincidence

OP posts:
Thebigblueballoon · 10/09/2023 09:28

That sounds horrible, OP. D&V is going around at the moment, though. I wouldn’t blame the bread.

hdbs17 · 10/09/2023 09:31

I picked through a half mouldy loaf the other day to find two slices that were usable because I was desperate for a bacon sandwich....

GreyCarpet · 10/09/2023 09:49

I'd be very surprised of the d&v was because of the bread.

I spent my student years picking surface mould from bread and cheese only to learn later that the spores burrow inwards and picking the surface stuff off makes no difference. I've also drunk tea made with milk that was 'on the turn'. Doesn't taste great but it won't kill you!

To have consumed enough to make you ill, it would have been really obvious.
