Salary, job and stress levels

What’s your salary, role, and stress levels (or work life balance)?

I earn £42k per year, I’m a civil servant. My stress levels are low, although I find the culture and pace frustrating at times. I have a good work/life balance as I WFH.

£93k last year 3 days a week. 9-5 very little stress in a sales role. I’m on the pigs back, plus company car

40k, full-time but with a lot of flexibility for school runs/childcare etc so in reality, probably about 34 hours a week, mostly from home, some in the office but to suit me. Not really stressful, I enjoy my job, but definitely overworked and have been coerced into a management role which I don't hate but has added a lot more to my workload with no extra remuneration for it. I did raise it but was told they couldn't do any at that time, so we shall see what happens at payrise time later this year.

33k full time but fairly flexible including a lot of WFH.
Can be a bit stressful during the day, software system type stuff and problem solving.
No take home stress at all.

34k science. Used to be really busy and stressful and I loved it. Now they have lightened the work load and I am so so bored.
I thrive off busy and stressful and get down in the dumps a bit when not busy.

£250k but about to be promoted so will once significantly. I love my job. Stressful at times but learnt to take no shit from the arseholes. I'm on a 5 year plan to retire at 60 so do'able. I just think of my pension and get my head down

Well this thread makes me feel poor 😅

manager in residential care setting for 8 children and 23 staff (but still short staffed). Only 32k per annum despite overseeing a 24/7 setting and being degree equivalent qualified.

How much are you expecting like?

chatenoire · 09/09/2023 20:56

£70k fairly decent work life balance and would say low stress levels

JohnNolan · 09/09/2023 20:56

£42k in local government. No stress at all. Partly because I'm lucky to never really get stressed & partly as I know my job inside out.

Mushroo · 09/09/2023 20:58

C.£75k. Zero stress, 9-5 only.

Worked super hard before this job though in professional services (with high levels of stress every day) so having a few ‘chilled’ years whilst I have very young kids.

Same. Are you a SEO too? My current role is fairly balanced in terms of responsibility/stress.

I’m in my 20s, so it’s a decent salary for my age but frankly it’s not enough considering my bills are about £1.8k a month, leaves me around £550 afterwards. So my life is average…hoping to get to G7 before I’m 30

NeedNwJeans · 09/09/2023 21:10

£100k, in IT. The most stressful thing at the moment I'd say is the risk of losing job (because of lay offs in the tech industry). WFH so pretty good WLB

NeverAloneNeverAgain · 09/09/2023 21:21

39k. Social Worker. High stress and no work life balance. I work most evenings and weekends to get things done but I love my job and can't imagine doing anything else.

riotlady · 09/09/2023 21:30

29k FTE (but I only do 24 hours), civil servant as well. Basically no stress for most of the year, minor stress for a few weeks a year when we all have short notice deadlines. WFH 2 days a week, flexi time, nice team and manager. Only downside is that my work isn’t very challenging so am moving on for something a bit more interesting (and more pay!)

Fab973 · 10/09/2023 01:14

It means I have it easy. Not sure if it’s a Uk or Irish saying but means it’s a good gig and relatively easy.

Thank you 😁. Never heard that saying before!
