What am I forgetting to take on holiday

Going on our first holiday for 1 week as a family tomorrow (6 month old baby) caravan holiday by the sea. I feel like I am majorly forgetting something.

There is a medium size supermarket nearby so will be able to get most basics but I'm moreso worried about forgetting something the baby needs which won't be super easy to get hands on while away. I've got:

My/DP's suitcase (clothes/shoes)
Baby suitcase (")
Bottle brush
Bottles
Formula
Sterilising travel bags
Nappies/cream/wipes
Chargers/multi-plug extension
Playstation (for contact naps and when baby has gone to bed, we won't be staying in all day!)
Board games
Toothbrush/charger
Couple tea towels
Toiletries
Towels
Baby bath (don't want to not take this as he doesn't like being showered yet)
Pram/carrier
Couple of pillows
Baby bedding from home
Small variety of in favour toys!

We will be buying all food when we get down there. I know we need washing up liquid, condiments, etc.

What obvious things am I missing for a caravan holiday especially with a baby? What do you take away to caravans that you find useful?

Thank you xxx

Frisby and kite.

Worth taking calpol just in case of any fevers or teething

When we last stayed in a caravan it was really light in the rooms so we took an extra sheet which we hooked over the window to make it darker. You can also buy stick on blinds but I find a dark towel or sheet can also do the job.

Frisby and kite.

A kite is a nice idea! We will probably be able to buy one from the myriad of beach tat shops in coastal towns 😂

Of course, calpol! Thank you. And you've also reminded me to bring teething granules and anbesol. We are in the midst of teething right now. I actually think calpol was what I knew what missing but couldn't think of 😂🙈

Are you likely to be at the beach or a swimming pool? Towles/swim stuff/sandals
Sun hat and suncream. Rain jackets/buggy cover so you can still go out whatever the weatber

Travel cot (unless there's one there!). White noise machine if you use it, baby monitor? Muslins, bibs? Just a few things that were on my list for when I pack next week! We're going on a similar holiday but DS is 13 months 😊 good job you mentioned washing up liquid as I'd forgotten that so thank you!

Thank you, luckily the site is a fairly fancy one and provides blackout blinds in the bedroom that we've prebooked. My baby is a little sod with not sleeping if there's a crack of light! But tangentially, you've reminded me I need the small fan out of our bedroom and the white noise machine. God help me if I forgot the white noise machine 😅

Get a gro-blind if baby is bothered by light. Maybe a white noise machine if there’s likely to be loud seagulls early in the morning?

menopausalmare · 08/09/2023 20:10

Definitely alcohol.

Babaganoo · 08/09/2023 20:11

@menopausalmare amen to that

We've prebooked a cot at the site :) and yes defo baby monitor, thank you! Might take a couple bibs as we're just doing the odd pouch at the moment, but he isn't really interested, he's only about to turn 6 months next week. Was kind of hoping to hold off on weaning properly altogether until we get back to be honest for less faff 😂 Hope you have a great time!

Play mat/toy arch?
Pop up shade tent for the beach?

Turtlegurl888 · 08/09/2023 20:16

Thank you so much folks for the help. I've doubled my list. My car is gonna be struggling down that motorway tomorrow lol

I literally hardly ever drink at all (no judgment whatsoever I just don't like the taste of most) but yes even I think I'm gonna need a couple glasses of something of a night, not expecting it to be an actual break in any way shape or form 😂 but I am looking forward to it.

@Turtlegurl888 in my opinion there's no rush with weaning! I felt so panicked to start the minute he hit 6 months and then felt like I was doing something wrong when he wasn't interested... and today he threw rice and eggs at the dog and I had to vacuum up 4374 individual pieces of rice... Don't rush it 😂

letmesailletmesail · 08/09/2023 20:24

Play mat and bouncy chair?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/09/2023 20:26

Sun cream
