Where in Bristol can I park tomorrow for University Open Day that's outside CAZ/Ulez zone but close to the Uni?

I know there's park and ride but we're coming from London and trying to fit in both Bristol and Bath Open days tomorrow so don't really have time to wait for buses etc.
TIA

I dont think you can park outside of ulez and near to the uni. Whereabouts is the open day? U of B or UWE? The park and ride is pretty quick. There's a new train station at Portway next to the p and r which is every half hour to temple meads

Illegallyblonder · 08/09/2023 15:40

TBH I'd get the train from London and get a cab to the unis. Bath to Bristol on the train is only 10 mins.

UlezSchmulez · 08/09/2023 15:42

No, we're driving for lots of reasons.

The Uni is outside of the CAZ area according to the maps I'm looking at. We're happy to walk 10 or 15 mins.

ie, the CAZ northern edge is the broken blue line just south of the uni

West End car park if there's space, but you'll have to approach from the north - M5 J17 and A4018

Have you tried the website My parking space? People rent out their driveways. Often close to city centres, stations etc. and cheaper.

BeyondMyWits · 08/09/2023 15:59

Bristol and Bath are very different. Different main subjects, campus/non campus , are they trying to decide between subjects/unis/campus or non... seems a lot to fit both into one day. They both had subject talks, general talks and accommodation, lab, facility and library tours which took up well over half a day.

PinkRoses1245 · 08/09/2023 16:08

I don't think you're going to get a comprehensive idea of each university by doing both in one day, you'll miss a lot. Bristol uni also has different buildings around the city so would help to know which one you are going to. Try JustPark you might be able to rent a space somewhere.

Agree and there are loads of these - JustPark, ParkingBee, Your Parking Space - I've used them a lot.

If the car park suggest is full download the Just Park app. Will give you other options and it's so easy to use.

Privatelyliving · 08/09/2023 16:16

London to Bristol I would definitely do by train.

lampshadecushion · 08/09/2023 16:20

Park on the Downs, and walk or catch a bus down Whiteladies Road. Nice cafe on the Downs, if you need a bite when you arrive

UlezSchmulez · 08/09/2023 16:20

Thanks all, I will download the Just Park app as well.

The subject my son wants to study is Maths so he's going to a presentation in the School of Mathematics, which I guess is the Fry Building School of Mathematics?
Can anyone confirm?

Traffic in Bristol on a Saturday is a nightmare. Go early.

If you can, go by train. The train to Bristol stops at Bath.

Also, to get around both unis be really organised about what you want to see and what presentations you want to
attend.

Make sure your DD has checked the courses online, and really does like them. You don’t want to do a manic dash to two universities only to discover things that might have ruled them out beforehand.
