How to get a 6 month old to take medicine?

My son has been prescribed some liquid antibiotics but I am struggling to get him to take them. I was advised by dr to mix with a little bit of his milk. He just spits it out, I’ve also tried to add in into a whole feed and he refuses it. Tried to syringe it slowly into his mouth and he won’t swallow it. Any advice ?

We had to do ds at that age in squash. As advised by GP. Wouldn't take any other way if he didn't have them he would have ended up admitted in hospital. So chose squash. Problem was he then wouldn't drink plain water for ages

Syringe into the side of the mouth rather than down the throat. Can't push it back out then.

Six months is okay for squash? Mixed with water ? Do you have a specific one you use, pretty worried about the sugar intake. Thanks for replying

Cruel to be kind, but, syringe it down the side of his cheek and then blow on his face so he swallows. Alternatively, go back to the doctor and ask for a different antibiotic. My toddler wont take the red antibiotics (to the point of vomiting) but gets excited for anything yellow.

Yes they are the red ones. Ok, I’ve got my work cut out for me tomorrow.

Syringe into the side of the mouth rather than straight onto the tongue, it goes down easier.

Yep, this

Wrap in a blanket and tilt him slight back. Use a syringe to squirt small amounts into the back of his cheek follow by his dummy or bottle.

Somebody else said it, but syringe and blow in their face. It forces a swallow reflex. Works in cats too.

Yep, agree with this! Had to do this with DD when she was 5m old for antibiotics 3 times a day for a week with a chest infection.

She hated every second of it but needs must. It was either that or ending up in hosp on nebulisers so ..
