Why, WHY, is one trainer still wet?!

I washed the trainers DS needs for PE. At the same time, and then they were dried in the same place. On a large windowsill, a large sunny windowsill with nothing overshadowing - both same amount of sun.

This was on Sunday afternoon.

One was bone dry the following evening, the other is still damp. I've since swapped them round several times, just in case, but the other is still damp. Damp all over, not in a specific place. Nobody has touched the damp one (and why would they?)

I have now resorted to the hairdryer and the fucking thing is still slightly damp.

Why? Why....?!!! I am baffled. I can honestly think of no logical explanation!

I've had this with trainers where 1 is alot wetter out of the machine than the other inside so I now put my hand in both trainers after washing and if 1 is still very wet I spin it again

They both came out as wet as each other, or at least I didn't notice one being noticeably wetter. Maybe that's what it is, it's the only potential sensible option (even if I am not wholly convinced.)

sometimes water hides under the insole. That drives me nuts!

Stick it on top of the boiler. That is if your boiler cycles on for a few seconds or something every so often. Dried shoes overnight. Bloody handy.

Thank you - will try that. The window sill worked fine for one, but the other is a mystery.

Might need to make a note where I put it though...

Just read about the insole - that might well be it!

Stuff it with newspaper. Replace every 30 minutes at first and then leave it a bit longer if the paper is coming out dry. Kitchen paper also works, but more expensive. Tea towels seem to be less effective.
