Raw chicken...

I left an unopened pack of raw chicken breasts on the kitchen counter from 2pm when they arrived, until 5:30pm.

It's 30 degrees here.

They're a goner aren't they?

I mean, I wouldn't!

SmokeMeAKipperIllBeBackForBreakfast · 07/09/2023 18:14

Not something I would risk.

Definitely 🤢

Yeah, I thought for a moment that I could neutralise the risk by freezing it. But it's just too iffy. If it was a cool day, maybe, but it's sticky-hot.

If it's gone off, freezing won't do anything to save it.

I'd wash it in salt water and sniff it. If it smells ok, I'd use it but cook immediately at a high temperature. I wouldn't share it though, just in case.

BoohooWoohoo · 07/09/2023 18:40

If it was winter then I would eat it but I wouldn't risk it in summer.

Plump82 · 07/09/2023 18:44

I was quite lackadaisical about meat when I wasn't vegetarian but in this heat it would be a definite no.

Coffeaddict · 08/09/2023 08:04

Like others said if it was cooler / winter then mabey but not in the current ridiculous heat

Todayiscool · 08/09/2023 11:06

I am fully agreed.
If it was an hour. Maybe. But several hours, in 20 degrees. Nah.
Now just to time it right to throw it in the food waste bin (so it doesn't fester and stink between now and bin-day).

I would eat it, as long as it smelt OK.

*30 degrees, not 20.
