"Fun" marriage dates

Husband and I have been having marriage counselling. We have a 3 year old DC. One thing that's come up (among a lot) is that we need to start spending some dedicated time together as a couple doing "fun" things. We have one reliable babysitter and we are thinking of asking them to sit for us twice a month so that we can go out.

I'm looking for ideas for things to do / date nights that will inject fun into our marriage. Previous date nights have simply been dinner / pub where we end up discussing our child or boring life stuff. It's tricky because the idea of enforced fun makes my teeth shudder (please don't suggest dance classes) but I do agree we've been in a rut. We live in London so there's plenty to do in our doorstep but I'm not sure where to start.

Do alphabet dating and take it in turns to choose. It'll get you both doing new things, putting effort in to plan dates and in London it'll be easy, you can also do some of them at home. A - aquarium, quick Google says 6 museums in London start with a, watch a film begining with a, a board game begining with a, go and see a show or a band begining with a etc.

My DH and I like Top Golf, it’s a fancy golf range with food and drinks.

We also have date days and go to the coast, walk around, go in the arcades, people watch. We play games such as spot people wearing a scarf or make up little scenarios about couples, how they met etc. it’s more fun than it sounds.

Do you have any couple friends to go on a double date with? I think seeing your partner having fun in a little group is good for a relationship, it helps you see them in a different light and not just in their parent role.

Things we've planned recently - Mini golf, a comedy show, nice walk with a good cafe at the end.
