Air fryer or slow cooker?

Contemplating getting one of these this year. I really can't decide which.

I have had a slow cooker in the past and everything tasted ' slow cookery' if that makes any sense. However, I'm not sure what I'd actually make in the air fryer. I normally make food such as chilli, spag bol, curry, sausages etc ( nothing too adventurous but I do like cooking).

5 of us in total.

I have both and they are useful for different but if I could only have one it would hands down be the air fryer. I use mine most days.

If there are 5 of you then buy the biggest one you can afford. You might find one with two drawers more useful. An air fryer will be a lot more expensive than a slow cooker.

2 drawer air fryer. We got one recently (because my DH wanted one). I was a bit reluctant. I take it all back; its amazing. Cooks a lot of things far better than my expensive RangeMasters. I did a small roast chicken the other weekend and it was amazing.

Get an Instant Pot. Does both. And pressure cooks too.

I moved to the Ninja Foodi Grill airfryer after over ten years of drawer airfryers. Will never look back. A slow cooker has nothing on it

both - i have sear and stew slow cooker which is much better than the pottery ones. I use SC, air fryer or one ring of the hob for most dinners - my oven is gathering dust.

Air fryer. Maybe I am just rubbish at slow cooking but I find most things come out bland as all heck so while we have one, it doesn’t get used much. The airfryer gets used more than the oven these days

Air fryer for sure.

Chicken
Roast potatoes
Pork tenderloin
Frittata
Sausages
Burgers
Garlic bread
Jacket potato

Even things like little individual meals that I've batch cooked and frozen.

I have the ninja foodie which does both but I tend to use the pressure cook more than slow cook. It's fab to airfry chicken or sausages then saute the veg and then pressure cook a stew/ pasta bake etc all in the same pot. Huge fan of one pot cooking. It can be tricky when you have more than one thing to cook ie I'll pressure cook the rice, take it out and keep it warm, then make the curry in the same pot. Naans go in the toaster, easy done.

Not cheap but we use it everyday, perfect for 4 minute crispy bacon butties. The steam/ airfry chicken wings are incredible.

I am a massive fan of both, and if you can fit them I think they each serve their own worthy purpose. However if I had to choose, based on frequency of use alone the airfryer would win. I barely use the oven anymore, the airfryer is easily the most used appliance in my kitchen.

TheLizardQueen · 06/09/2023 12:44

my ninja air fryer is also a slow cooker! I use both

Florin · 06/09/2023 12:57

We have just got the instapot which is both an air fryer and pressure cooker and love it, used it nearly every day since having it, especially impressed that I can make risotto in 6 minutes in it.

Lovemusic82 · 06/09/2023 13:03

I have both and they both serve a different purpose. I use the slow cooker a lot more during the winter for stews and curry’s, the air fryer gets used for quick meals for the kids (sausages, chips etc….) though I did cook a chicken in it a couple days ago and it turned out ok.
