I need a gentle low-pressure shower, seem to be asking for the moon

I seem to be asking for the moon.

If I type into amazon or Google "low pressure shower head" or similar, the silly algorithm goes Pressure? You want pressure? Great! Let me give you search results "high pressure shower head, extra invigorating, good for making your low pressure supply feel like extra high pressure" etc.

I need a shower head that doesn't make me feel like I'm being attacked by a million sharp needles on my nipples and nether regions. No invigoration required.

I have a rain shower but I need to replace my handheld one for times I'm not washing my hair...

Can anyone help me...? Even just better ideas for what to type in the search engine? Many thanks

Flow restrictor shower head, or a flow restrictor you can put in your own shower head. It’s a water saving device but it does reduce flow.

Thanks @BeatBoy but I think flow restriction actually increases the pressure doesn't it? By using smaller holes and so sharper little jets.

My problem is not wanting to save water/money but the sensory issue of sharp jets... so ouchie on my skin

Thank you @BeatBoy and @NeverDropYourMooncup I guess I didn't understand what "flow restrictor" meant - I'll try ordering something like that and see if it works!

Can you just turn the water pressure down a bit using the stopcock?

Ollybob · 04/09/2023 18:44

Most showers have two setting, one for temperature and one for pressure, won't that help?
Also buy a big shower head, the bigger it is the more water it uses, so less pressure.

I have Mira Event XS, it has a power dial and the lowest setting is very gentle indeed.

The lower setting is still not gentle enough... I appreciate I'm probably unique in this! Got family history of sensory issues.

(It's not strictly relevant but I usually take shallow baths but have been recommended not to by the Dr atm, showers only. Hence why this issue is cropping up now!)

This makes sense but I don't want to affect dh's showers (he uses the rain shower)

Ah fair enough.

Don't turn the shower on as full.

Water restrictor to save on water definitely lowers the pressure, my DC moan that I've fitted one to save £ 🤣
