Anyone tried Child's Farm suncream on a baby with eczema? Or can recommend something else?

My 9 month old has eczema and comes out in hives when I put suncream on. Umming and ahhing between the child's farm, Aveeno or la Roche posey to order and try for our holiday soon.

So expensive to order and still react, wish I could just try a sample! Has anyone tried any?

We use sun sense.

My boy has eczema and I’ve been using childs farm. It seems to suit him okay, I also use the child’s farm body wash and moisturiser (all the ‘oatderma’ range) and his skin is pretty good (tough wood!!) at the moment. I do have to be very careful when washing the sun cream off at the end of the day and it does stain quite badly but better that than making his skin worse!

My son used to react to most suncreams except Child's Farm which was always good.

I have used the La Roche Posay in two eczema kids without issues...it is ridiculously expensive though!!!

We use ultra sun, which is often prescribed for people with skin conditions. Also use SPF30 max as it will be less harsh on skin with ezcema. There is research on this and my son's allergy consultant advised us to use a lower SPF

We use le Roche posay for sensitive kids who have eczema. It’s the best we’ve found, but not perfect!

Iizzyb · 04/09/2023 13:33

DS has always tolerated calypso once a day spf 30 it is cheap as chips but recommended by a dermatologist.

Much easier to get hold of than sun sense too.

Again we were told 30 was more than enough & 50 tends to block pores which causes problems x

LurkerMcLurkson · 04/09/2023 13:38

Another one for La Roche Posay, the bigger kids one though rather than the smaller baby one

Sunsense factor 50 is definitely the only way to go for us. I wouldn't use anything else and had years of bringing up DC one with very serious eczema from a baby. Easy to apply as well since it's roll on. Worth the extra cost.

I used to get itchy skin from shampooing in the shower, so I switched to Child's Farm baby shampoo and the problem has gone. BTW I often use the suds on my face and neck and it leaves the skin feeling very smooth.

Obviously can't comment on sun cream, but can recommend the brand.

My son reacted to the m&s one but was fine with Asda Little Angels

WanderingWitches · 04/09/2023 14:33

My son reacts to all suncream apart from the mineral based ones. We are currently using Green People.

MooGoo which you can get from Holland and Barratt is brilliant. It's an Aussie brand and all we use on our kids. Very thick but you get used to putting it on. Very effective... never had a spot of sun burn and my kids are outside all the time.

Child's farm brought dd out in the most horrific rash and her eczema flared up so bad. The worst out of all the suntan lotions we've tried on her. The GP prescribed sunsense and a couple of others and she was allergic to them all too.

La Roche posay is the only one we can use on her skin.
