Very much a long shot but anyone staying here right now and happen to have an oximeter on them.

DS has developed a viral wheeze and I need to monitor his oxygen, and I didn’t bring ours as I didn’t expect him to get ill this weekend.

Someone please say yes.

Many years ago my baby DS was poorly at Sherwood and we had to take him to A&E. When we told Center parcs what had happened they very gently 'told us off' saying they would have helped as much as possible- escorted us off-site, called and helped an ambulance find us etc. So I would definitely call them as see if they could help. Hope all is well x

I'm coming up there tomorrow if that's any help?

Can you monitor his breathing rate to get some peace of mind in meantime?

Bumping for you.

Penrith is only 15/20 mins away

Center Parcs First Aid are really good, if you're still worried in the morning.

CenterParcsHelp · 04/09/2023 01:48

Thank you everyone, and really appreciate the offer @SittingOnTheChair.

His breathing hasn’t reached the point of needing to go to the hospital, but he is on the maximum dose on the inhaler every 3 hours, so will need to see how tonight goes. Some of his recent episodes have also affected his oxygen levels, so we need to monitor that too now. As the inhaler is helping it shouldn’t be affecting his oxygen levels that much, but without the oximeter we just don’t know. I’m just monitoring his breathing and staying with him whilst praying we get through tonight. He’s only 2 and a half.

First aid is unfortunately closed but they will help with an ambulance if we need one, but we should be ok for now. We check out tomorrow and were planning to spend the day before driving back but assuming he doesn’t get worse, will just head straight home first thing. I’m so good at packing everything we could need for him, but didn’t pick up the oximeter because he was well on Friday morning so thought we wouldn’t need it. Kicking myself because it’s a tiny device so it’s not like it would have taken up any space.

Is pulsimeter monitoring part of his asthma management plan from his doctor? If so you should be able to buy one from a large pharmacy if you drive into Nottingham

He’s never been diagnosed with asthma - too young to tell if he will grow out of it or if he has asthma, but his care plan is similar to asthma I think (brown inhaler every day and blue inhaler several times when he needs it).

He’s been doing ok this morning, so think we’re through the worst of it. It was definitely borderline overnight on whether he needed a trip to A&E but seems to have turned around. I was absolutely dreading it - we’re 3 hours from home and I’m heavily pregnant. Was terrified we would need to go and be kept in for a few days miles away from home, but we are on the way back so if he does get worse, at least we’ll be in a hospital near home.
