Do you store cups/glasses upside or downside?

I’ve always stored them upside and assumed everyone did - now I’ve come across people who store downside to avoid dust.

Which way do you do?

Upside.. they're in a cupboard ( no dust?)

Floraltears · 03/09/2023 09:44

Downside, they stack easier

Westfacing · 03/09/2023 09:44

Up, especially glasses to protect the rim.

Yes this

greenacrylicpaint · 03/09/2023 09:45

depends
the glasses/mugs that are in constant use are stored the right way up.
the ones that only come out if we have a house full of visitors are upside down.

HawdMeBack · 03/09/2023 09:45

Me - downside
DH - upside

It's a battle!

Carpetmoth · 03/09/2023 09:48

Up. Storing down can make the insides smell (especially if not completely dry) and the rim is being put on a shelf (not many wipe cupboards out and they can get a bit dusty).

Your cupboards magically don’t get dusty?

TenOhSeven · 03/09/2023 09:48

Always the right way up.

LBOCS2 · 03/09/2023 09:50

Always downside. Stops the ones at the back of the cupboard accumulating dust.

Nonplusultra · 03/09/2023 09:51

Downside ever since I found a dead spider in one.

Missey85 · 03/09/2023 09:52

Upside, Their in a cupboard so they don't get dusty

Devilsmommy · 03/09/2023 09:52

Downside because I've never seen a cupboard that magically repels dust😁

newnamethanks · 03/09/2023 09:53

Up. Once worked with someone who insisted on down, in a cupboard, as 'mice could climb inside the cups'.🤔

PeachPieStreet · 03/09/2023 09:53

Upside, to make sure there is no smell if the mug / glass is not bone dry.

Sushirollsometimes · 03/09/2023 09:54

Downside if I'm somewhere with cockroaches, upside to stop any damp if not.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 03/09/2023 09:54

Upside, to protect the rims, esp for glasses.

Ap24 · 03/09/2023 10:05

Up. They smell nasty otherwise.

BooksAndHooks · 03/09/2023 10:07

Up, it weakens the glass if stored upside down as the rim is the weakest point, not designed to have the weight of the glass on it.

eandz13 · 03/09/2023 10:07

I've just seen this debate on FB and was surprised at how many said downside.
Upside, quick rinse before use.

Alargeoneplease89 · 03/09/2023 10:15

Upside down- after googling it seems to be the consensus

largeprintagathachristie · 03/09/2023 10:19

Upside - otherwise the rim that is literally going to be in your mouth is touching the cupboard/shelf surface.

WhateverUsernameWillDo · 03/09/2023 10:21

Upside. They're in a cupboard with a door and in constant use.

Desecratedcoconut · 03/09/2023 10:22

Upside so that we can precariously balance mugs inside one another, defying physics as they begin to acquire an unfathomable lean to one side without actually crashing, like all good households do, surely?
