I'm looking for ideas for chapter books I could read to my 6 year old before bed. Can anyone tell me what your 6 year olds enjoy?

Finn Family Moomintroll. So sweet, and the chapters are short 😆

Also did Enid Blyton’s Faraway Tree books, which my DC loved. Now onto the Wishing Chair. I’m planning to do Fantastic Mr Fox after this.

When do you change to chapter books? We ready every night but we read just a couple of books each night. Things like the Dinosaur that pooped series or Aliens/Pirates/Dinos love underpants. DS is 5 but I don't think he would be interested in chapter books yet!

Agree with @Sherrystrull about mixing them up but also child dependent. Started reading some Roald Dahl (Fantastic Mr Fox, Enormous Crocodile) mixed with picture books to DC1 when 4 before starting reception. She’s now 6 and confidently reads those plus most of the books mentioned in this post alone.

DC2 is not the same and will be closer to 6 when they have the concentration to listen to the easier ones (not sure when will read them but will be led by them)
