September 'reset'

If you fancy a September sort stuff out thread, then come, come.

My plan for September looks like this -

Healthy eating. I'll start on soups now the weather is getting cooler. Lots of veg.
Treats are homemade only on the weekend. Like an apple crumble after Sunday dinner.
I need to bake some things for packed lunches too.

Some regular exercise as I know it helps with energy levels and mood. I usually walk or do a quick home workout.

Decluttering and tidying up. I want the house to be more comfortable for staying in more. I'd also like to paint the bathroom. Might buy some more decorative items and candles.

Taking stock of all our winter gear like coats and walking boots for those bracing winter walks.

Buying some warmer clothes for dcs.

Booking some events to help get through the darker months and have things to look forward to.

Buying or borrowing some more 'autumn' or 'winter' themed books because I like to read books relevant to the seasons sometimes. A spooky book for October is always a must for me.

‘Season of mists and mellow soupfulness…’
I always make loads of thick, multi-veg ones in colder weather - and they’re cheap! A bit early just yet though.

One thing I promised myself to do last year once the clocks changed, was to sort out/declutter one drawer or cupboard every day.
And I didn’t do even one. 😩
So that’s back on the agenda.

You might enjoy the book “Wintering” by Katherine May

I agree it's too early for soups. We have temp of 22c today.

Thanks for the book recommendation. I'll take a look.

I hate the cold and dark so I'm trying to turn it into a 'project'. I guess it makes me feel more in control and brings some positivity to it.
Being healthier is important so I fight the winter bugs better. Which reminds me, I need to stock up on vitamin d and zinc.

Oooo nice idea for a thread, gonna follow and get some ideas.

Great idea OP and full credit for not using the words "cosy" and "blankets"!

I too hate the winter inertia. I will be following and as I have a seriously overdue need to get my arse into gear I will be on your drawer tidy crew.

Following!

Vague areas:
Exercise
Mindfulness
Declutter

Oh and planning. Working full time with 2 under 6 feels like I never have a free minute and I still forget/do t plan properly.

Oh and I need to get sorted for Christmas so I can shop ahead.

@Eileen101 working full time with young dc is so tough.
I find that the weeks I put some time into getting organised, it frees up time. You need time to have free time! Sometimes it's very difficult.
I work part time but I've increased my hrs due to cost of living.
Really want to get more organised. I dream of having relaxing weekends in a clean tidy house, having time for family walks, good wholesome tasty meals and time to read instead of constant cleaning, piles of laundry, nagging about homework, needing time to shop for food, last minute life and school admin stress and so on. You get the idea.

Haha that's the dream.
I recently invested in hiring a cleaner to at least take some of the load off!
I'm definitely thinking along the planning lines. Especially as we just got back from holiday and we'll be right into a really busy week.

TheScenicWay · 04/09/2023 17:06

I've taken advantage of the good weather and washed all the chair and cushion covers.
It's really freshened up the place.

It's so hot at the moment that I'm just going to enjoy these sunny days before I get stuck in.
