For the past week, I've been suffering with really bad pain in my bottom teeth (feels like a couple of them on the left hand side) and I don't know what is causing it. I flossed and had Corsodyl but it didn't improve, so I went to the dentist. She was also at a loss as she said my teeth are clean, no swollen gums, and she even took an X-ray of the area and it was fine. She told me though that as the pain was in the lower left side, and I was experiencing occasional palpitations, that I should visit the doctor in case it was a heart problem. I went to the doctor a few hours later and he doesn't think it's related to my heart. He said it could be 'silent reflux' where the acid is coming up in the night and damaging the teeth, but I don't really get acid reflux and surely the dentist would've been able to spot that? One of the teeth in the area has the top missing off it as I chipped it a long time ago so I wonder if it could be that, though it has never caused me problems before.
The pain is like sensitive tooth pain but very intense and only occasionally subsides. Drinking or eating very hot/cold things doesn't make it worse. The only other thing I can think is that my thyroid appears to be swollen so I wonder if it could be pressing on a nerve? I do have hypothyroid and have been having problems lately. Please can anyone advise - it's horrendous!
