Anyone know roughly how long PIP assessments take?

Sorry not sure where to put this !

Having found myself in the position whereby I've had to apply (I lost mobility almost 2 years ago) I just wondered how long the papersift takes if anyone knows ?

It took 2 weeks for the form to get to me and then I almost immediately began getting messages hurrying me up to send them back, returned form last weekend

Just wondered if it's weeks or months if anyone has experience?

Thanks

Mine was 6 months from phone call to money in my account. Good luck!

I filled in my sons form in March, gave enough evidence to not need a phone or in person assessment, they told me that in July, letter to say it has been awarded at the start of August and he’ll get his first payment mid September

It's months not weeks, unfortunately.

Use the time wisely (IMO) and gather together any further evidence from your medical professionals/carers and get yourself prepared to the assessment, which may be a telephone call, which DWP (PIP) seem to favour these days. It's basically a case of backing up your answers, to show that you have daily care & mobility needs that affect you more often than not, on any given day.

The DWP (PIP) say that they don't need a diagnosis - but it helps. It also helps if you are prepared and ready to tell the assessor that on more days that not, you have a particular need. You don't have to have the need met - you have the need.

I have always found the Benefits and Work website useful btw. There's a lot of free stuff available there.

Very best of luck Flowers

I've got several diagnosed conditions now but my needs are genuine , I've had to hire home help as I'm struggling with laundry and cleaning .

I've delayed as long as possible,

So we're talking about 6 months .
Do they back pay ?

I'm hoping to go back to work but currently off sick .

Yes they back pay.

AutumnCrow · 01/09/2023 18:00

They back paid mine to the day I rang up and lodged my request for PIP (the 'PIP1' form - the one that takes two weeks to arrive!)

That was 6 months in my case.

Treepigeon · 01/09/2023 20:59

Mine was 18 months

fabmaccawhackythumbsaloft · 01/09/2023 23:06
