Easy tips for living a healthier life

I am trying to improve my health a bit - I eat too many takeaways, drink too many fizzy drinks and don't exercise enough. But I've managed to swap out the majority of my fizzy drinks for water just by getting a nice 1l water bottle and keeping it in the fridge. When I open the fridge to pluck out a can of coke I swig out of my water bottle first, and by the time I've done that I rarely actually want the fizzy drink anymore.

One little step towards making better choices! Does anyone have any other little tips I can use?

Put limits on your phone screen time.
No screens for >= 1 hour before bed
Get into daylight as soon as you can upon waking
Eat 30 different plant foods a week (keep a food diary for a couple of weeks to find out what you're actually eating)
Prepare fruit/veg and put it at the front of the fridge for snacking
Eat at a table with cutlery and no screens. Take your time.
Do something every day to distress.
Walk 10k steps per day

I wish I did all these!

I've started going to bed around 9.15pm rather than 10.15pm and the additional sleep I feel sure has improved my immune system. I used to catch every virus going and I haven't had a cold for about two months now. Winner.

Eat more protein. 2 eggs scrambled every morning for breakfast - quick and easy, and keeps me full. Try and get a decent amount of protein in at each meal.

Oh yes screen time is definitely something I need to tackle. She says, whilst staring at her phone Blush

Or I often do overnight oats in the summer - oats, natural yogurt, cinnamon, berries, nuts & seeds all mixed up & left overnight in the fridge, then I just slice a banana to add to it in the morning. Minimum effort, tasty & filling.

Walking to a few places you’d normally drive to if possible!

I know it sounds like an obvious thing but if you stop buying fizzy drinks on a regular basis you will get used to them not being in the fridge. I stopped buying Coke and crisps in my weekly shop and if I want either of those things I have to go and buy them. The effort of going to buy them means that nine times out of ten I don't bother.
It's not foolproof but it's a start.

Whenever I actually muster up the willpower to stop snacking, I actually stop wanting snacks. I always end up falling off the wagon if someone buys me chocolate, though (usually for a particular occasion).

Weigh or measure all your food - don’t guess a teaspoon of olive oil or a teaspoon of butter/jam etc.

use smaller plates or bowls to eat

have a glass of water before your meal

Use a Fitbit to monitor calories in and out.

Always eat breakfast.
Always have a piece of fruit with you for emergency snack. That plus a drink of water can take away temptation and stop u snacking before the next proper meal

Make it too hard to order the takeaways. Block/delete the delivery apps and delete any auto fill card details so you can’t do one-click ordering. Batch cook some healthy meals that you can freeze and heat even faster than a takeaway would arrive.
