Just got back from holiday this evening. Been away for 7 days.
Anyway DD has left her new vanity mirror on, it is only an F so not very efficient as it is.

I am rubbish at working out energy prices per unit as it is but confused by this one, I don't understand this at all.

What does 18kWh/1000h mean? (See attached photo of the box)

I pay 28.85 per kWh with Ovo.
Do I just do 18 x 28.85? This comes up at about £5 for one hour!!!!
Which would be £840 for the week! So I must be doing something wrong??

What does the /1000h mean? None of my other electrical appliances are written in this way.

Sorry for the rambling. Can anybody who understands electricity and energy rating please work out the hourly cost of leaving this mirror on so I can prepare myself for the bill? Or just a rough estimate for me? I am panicking slightly.

18W = 0.018 KW.

(1W = 1000th of a KW)

So 7x24 = 168 hours

168 * 0.018 = 3.024 KWh for the week.

so about 29p * 3 -= less than a pound.

What does 18 kWh 1000h mean?
Anyone who has a clue about how physical units works will of course realize that kWh/1000h means "1000 watt-hours per 1000 hours" which can be shortened to just W . But when it comes to lamps, the unit "W" is already used for the light output.17 Jan 2016

It means 18kwh used for every 1000hrs it is on I would think.

Basically nothing you will notice on your bill.

ShipSpace · 30/08/2023 22:48

Jesus. Calm down.

You won’t even notice it!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/08/2023 22:49

It means that for every 1000 hours it's on, it uses 18kW.
1000h/168 h in a week is about 6
18/6 is 3

3*28.85 is about 97p

Around £1 roughly.

Thank you so much!
