Have you noticed this about 'house influencers'

Random musing of the day: I don't know if that's the right term, but you know people whose Instagram is all about renovating/redecorating their house?

I've followed a few because I love having a nose into what other people are doing with their homes.

There was an account I started following ages ago, they were doing up a new build bit by bit. This is just one account, but several follow this pattern. And I wondered what would happen when it was all done.

And they just redo it all again! And again! So it's 'when we first redid the kitchen, I really didn't like this style/colour, so I'm doing it the way I REALLY want it!' Then by next year it needs another update. Same with every other room in the house.

Some of them even then take on another project, like a holiday let, to do up.

And I think to myself, is that not exhausting? It took me 3 years to finally turn my bed around and slightly rearrange my room, and I'm done.

Also how do they have such an excessive flow of funds? Are they really able to redo it all with sponsorships/paid ads? The accounts don't even have 100k followers, surely advertising can't be that lucrative?

I'm tired just watching the 10th remake of the house, can't imagine how tiring it must be to always stay relevant, and I wonder how the children of that house feel living in constant change

Ah ok. It did sound a lot classier than Mrs Hinch who is more of a supermarket sweep style smash and grab round B&M.

I’m a person who does houses up and sells them on. I started doing as it was the only way I could stay in the area my family live in but then it became the way I support my family. It’s exhausting and as the price of trade has increased the profit has significantly decreased. I however am plodding on. The downside are that I’ve spent the past year living in a disgusting house which I’m too embarrassed to have visitor in but the upside is I can be flexible with what I do and try to see the kids as much as possible.
I don’t post what I do on social media as many of my friends are struggling financially. I do recommend trades on social media as want to support small businesses.

I'm the sort of person who can spend ten years dreaming of a new bathroom, three weeks of trying a variety of paint shade test pots on a wall, and then ends up buying a tin of magnolia because the guy fitting the bathroom needs the paint today or else.

😂

I remember buying a (cheap) home makeover/ DIY styling magazine as I was looking for inspiration for my living room. One feature was a particular room that had been "made-over". Blue/grey sofa and yellow walls and cushions. Lovely.
I bought the same magazine around 3 months later and the same room was featured AGAIN with the comments "I left my red cardigan on the arm of the sofa one night, and when I saw the room the next day, I decided red was a better feature colour." Cue complete change to red walls and cushions.
I've no idea if it was a "real" reader they featured or just a "fake" room it was easy for them to restyle for the magazine but it was eye-opening how shallow it all was.

Aaand... this is why we have plain, neutral walls, curtains and carpets. Then all you have to do is change the cushions, and behold!
