Those stretchy covers for sofa/armchairs

I keep seeing them advertised on the Temu pop up ads.

Not that I'd expect the temp ones to be any good, but has anyone used similar? I have an absolutely ancient sofa and armchair. Can't afford to replace but would like to spruce up if possible.

I’ve used them, bought from Amazon. Work well. Don’t get the “velvet” type, they just attract every bit of fluff in the house!

We had them from Amazon on our old sofa a few years ago, it was fine,

Same here. Covered 2 perfectly comfortable but very tired looking sofas with them. From amazon.

Ah thank you, were they individual cushion covers or a large one piece?

The smaller one for a single cushioned 2-seater (so larger than a standard armchair but smaller than a proper 2 seater) has a cover for the seat cushion and a large cover for the rest of the sofa. It doesn't fully cover it, but it's mostly OK- we'll be replacing these sofas in a year or so anyway, so I'm not fussed. The cover for the 3 seater sofa has individual covers for the cushions and a large one for the body of the sofa. The material itself is stretchy and the edges are all elasticated. Hope that description helps.

WhoWants2Know · 30/08/2023 20:50

I've had several. The individual covers worked best and made the sofa look decent for ages.

fourlambbhunas · 30/08/2023 20:53

If you go for the all in one cover I'd side up as I bought one for my two seater and it only just covered an armchair x

I have a two seater all in one cover and it's OK, I can chuck it in the washing machine and it dries quickly (dog on sofa). I think the next one I go for will probably have the separate covers as there's something a little bit student house about my all in one cover.

I stayed in an air bnb where they had ones that were just one big stretchy piece that covered the whole sofa and honestly they were horrible, staticky and shifted out of place very easily. But I expect they were a very cheap version!

girlfriend44 · 30/08/2023 21:38

Are these for leather sofas?

Yeah, probably similar to the one I bought, though its not too staticky

tunainatin · 30/08/2023 21:51

Had one of the single big piece ones, it was really good. The only bit that came out of place was where you tucked it down behind the bottom cushions, but we held it in place with hosepipe and that helped!

FuckingHellAdele · 30/08/2023 21:57

I've got quite a few now, from Amazon.

The first couple I bought were just the one-piece ones, with the foam rollers that you use to hold down the cushions.

The rest, and the ones I prefer, have separate cushion covers. They are great for a household like ours, with dogs. I can change them every couple of days, they wash and dry really well.

Agree with the pp though, the velvet ones look nice, but can leave the furniture underneath looking a bit fuzzy!

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 30/08/2023 22:02

Can anyone link the separate cushion cover ones please? I've only ever seen the big sofa onesie ones.

Calling · 30/08/2023 22:07

I really need this for my vintage armchair that has wooden arms, ie not fabric on the arms.

Sorry just realised that the PP had mentioned about the velvet ones attracting fluff. I haven't found that, but as I say, I have found that it leaves a fuzz on the underneath furniture.

Agree with everything posted so far. We had some inherited sofas from family with an awful print when we bought our house, so got the all in ones covers with the polystyrene bits you shove in the cracks. They don't look great, as soon as they've been sat on once really. But with extra throws on top/over arms they can be passable and do give extra life
to comfy but not nice looking sofas. Totally agree that they have a student house vibe though and am glad that we were able to replace sofas after a couple of years.
