Been asked to find a replacement for myself-how would you go about this? I am stumped

I am a freelance tutor and have been offered a better position for one of the days I work (more £, from home, better company to work for in all honesty) however there are a few complications to the situation that brought me to do the position I am doing in the first place.

For this reason it isn't as unreasonable as it may sound, for me to be asked to try to find a replacement for myself to teach the students.

Trouble is I've no idea how to do this at all without having to pay to advertise it? Other than perhaps asking on social media if anyone knows anyone.

Surely it's up to the family to do this? Not your responsibility.

It's a one off course due to the company the students started learning with going into administration. A new company took them on but only because I was available to teach them.

You are a tutor, not HR. Let them sort it out for themselves.

Not your responsibility!

So what happens if any tutor you find turns out to be a dud? Are they expecting you to vet them?

Maybe recommend one of the agencies you originally considered joining? Do you have any current/former teaching friends who might appreciate extra £?

They are panicking (possibly justifiably).

PS I am seeing a fair few people asking for tutor recommendations on our local Nextdoor app.

Thanks all. They'd need to be qualified in the subject I teach, I am not on SM but I could rejoin it and ask in the community for the subject.

You say 'no sorry, I don't know anyone' beyond that it really isn't your problem, if the Company didn't want to find themselves in a pickle they should have paid better and been more flexible

Don't get involved! You are not paid to find or evaluate potential employees for the company that you are leaving and it's totally bizarre they are asking you.

Did you post about this situation before? When your previous employer went bankrupt?

Does your contract specify that if you quit then you are obliged to find a replacement? Or you're breaking the terms?
If not, tell them to jog on. Serve whatever notice period you have to and move on!
