What’s going on with my chest?

I know people will say to see a doctor and I will but realistically I won’t get an appointment for a couple of weeks so in the meantime …

When I eat anything that could be considered a proper meal - bread or potato or anything substantial, I get this really uncomfortable, tightening sensation round my chest. It’s like there’s a blockage and the food won’t go down. Sometimes I’ve coughed and spluttered so much it’s just come back up again but it isn’t like normal being sick - it’s just food. (Gross, sorry.)

It doesn’t happen with snack type food, as far as I can tell. Any ideas? It’s perplexing. I don’t seem to have much of an appetite either which isn’t like me but then I’ve been really busy recently!

I get this when I have bread. Always have. My uncle has the same thing.

This happens to me if I eat fat chips. Nothing else. My dad was the same.

If it’s not a specific food and it happens frequently along with your loss of appetite, you might want to mention to your GP.

Look up dysphasia, my mum had the same and in her case was caused by a hiatus hernia

There's nothing we nor you, beyond keeping notes, can do. It's GP and possibly an endoscopy, so you best get the ball rolling with an appointment.

I get that feeling if I eat chips that are slightly underdone. I think it's the same feeling anyway. It feels like I've been swallowing sharp heavy rocks.

A lot of things do that to me too. I have gastric reflux. Omeprazole helps.
