I'd like to buy myself a lovely diary/planner for next year. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The moleskine pro planner. Would not be without mine. I can fit all kids stuff, family stuff, DHs shifts and my work stuff in there.
if you mean calendar rather than diary, then the box lever family planner.

Use your phone calendar it's better than bringing a planner around

GigiAnnna · 27/08/2023 16:27

I buy them every year with intentions of using them and I never do. So I now have a wall calender of Evan Peters that I write everything on as I will never forget to look at that.

Bookchildtable · 27/08/2023 16:29

I've just bought a moleskine planner from tkmax. I've got an 18 month planner (£6.99). I use Google calendar on my phone as it's also great for setting reminders but have always had a wall calendar so everyone can see what's happening. I have a saying for my teenage dc 'if it's not on the calendar mum's not doing it'. I've swapped to a diary as we have lots of hospital appointments and I can clip the letters in easy. I also use it to meal plan.

Are there any fancier apps anyone can recommend?

Gameoflifeloser · 27/08/2023 16:33

Here is my magnetic family organiser if anyone is interested! https://amzn.eu/d/bV0uM7L

But still following for notebook types. Our Paperchase closed down ☹️

We have a family Google calendar, both get reminders, different colours for each person, red for any urgent or medical appointments, birthdays, insurance renewals etc on annual repeat, swimming lessons, activities, pe day on weekly repeat notes can be added for any variations and your phone is with you almost all of the time. DS can be added when he's old enough to be making his own appointments, by which time he'll have a phone.
I used to be a paper diary person but electronic is so easy.

Gameoflifeloser · 27/08/2023 16:36

I love the Google apps but for some reason information doesn't sink in unless I see it in person.

I think by the time I'm home from work I'm screen fatigued so my brain doesnt absorb the information. If that makes sense? 😂 I know, I'm a complete weirdo

I'm also a list maker!

Google calendar is great for us, you can ‘share’ it with other family members so everyone can see appointments etc

Nothingbuttheglory · 28/08/2023 04:28

I used to love bullet journaling in a Leuchtturm 1917 but now I only use it for planning out big tasks (e.g. re-planting the garden).

Everything else goes in the phone calendar. I use the TimeTree app. Both dh and I are on it. Can't remember the exact cost but there's a free version too. There's the usual stuff like having events repeat (so I have TOMM Christmas to-do tasks and gardening reminders pop up at the right time each year) and you can save documents, images etc to any event, so it's easy to keep tickets for things organised. You can colour code things but I'm not that organised so just go for a pretty rainbow effect.

It took a little while to get DH fully trained up but he's good with it now too. It's at the point where we don't need to ring each other to check what plans are - if it's happening, it's in TimeTree.

I also use the Notes app on my phone for anything else I might want to record.

Can't imagine lugging a notebook everywhere nowadays.

For me it's the Box Clever family planner / diary, available from Amazon for about 15 GDP. It has columns (7?) so I use one for each person and a couple for work appointments and meetings. I've used these for the last few years and my OH jokes when it goes on holiday with us!

I like to design my own on this site and they have 15% off currently.

It's my Christmas present to myself, I like to choose all the bits and bobs I need because my 4 kiddos all have different educational needs etc so I need something detailed.
Plus I love the budget planning/meal prep etc and the fact I can choose the colours etc

I didn't mean to link the wall planner, sorry! I make a mix book but they have loads of options!

scrivette · 28/08/2023 06:41

I have had the Boxpress page per day diary for
a few years, I use it for lists and nots as well as a calendar. I don't carry it through as it's quite heavy (A5 size).

I agree with a PP that I have to see things written down to remember them after a day at work using the computer.

CuriousPorg · 28/08/2023 06:47

We use a box clever calendar on the wall. We do invite ourselves to meetings as reminders across our outlook work calendars but the physical calendar works best for remembering things at the weekend or random school requests.

LifeIsShambolic · 28/08/2023 07:53

I have always carried a physical week per view planner/diary. Like others have said I think I get information overload with my phone so I don't want anymore notifications popping up!
I like the look of the moleskin one linked above, off to have a look now!

BlueBlubbaWhale · 28/08/2023 12:11

Sounds ideal @Lwrenagain I'll take a look and at the others too. I like to physically write things down it seems to help my brain somehow!
