Sleepovers with kids - do you avoid?

So last night was the first one

One child fell
All was well she cut her hand
Rang her mum

All fine today thankfully

But I'm exhausted
Very little sleep
House is a dive
My daughter was so badly behaved

Never again

Next time maybe next year we will do park and cake in a local cafe

Anyone else feel this way ?

God it was brutal

I just do not see the value at all

My dd changes personailty when she has a friend for a sleepover - is rude and argumentative and that is before the lack of sleep!!
Told her never to ask for more than one friend at a time as it will be a hard no!

I hadn't anticipated just how badly she would behave

Yes too much sugar and over tired but my god !!!

Plus they left out another girl and it broke my heart

Meeting for park and pizza/cake is the way forward I think
We have a great local cafe that just opened beside the park

Live and learn.

I just do not see the value at all

I think I felt this awful guilt for never having a birthday party and never having friends over as old house was falling to pieces

But there is a reason why some mums prefer park play dates and I see now

5 is way too young for sleepovers!

I agree with waiting until they're older and pitching a tent in the garden. Sausages, hot chocolate, marshmallows, wild wees and no one back in the house until around 8am.

Perfect. My daughter had lots of sleepovers this way. They're less keen on the camping now they're 17 but they're also pretty quiet and self sufficient too! (Don't stay up so late either 😉)

Mine are too young still, but I already know I’ll be saying no to sleepovers. Happy to host until 10pm, but then it’s carriages.

My DD was 8 and a bit before first sleepovers.

I still try to avoid hosting them! But she happily sleeps out!

8 or 9 seems much better right?

Did give parents the option to just have the girls over for a few hours and everyone opted for sleepover too

Anyway I'm just exhausted and worried so much about them all

Def a steep learning curve

I loved sleepovers. ok they are tiring and messy, especially with 5-6 or even more boys who are up all night messing around wrestling/playing xbox etc, but the kids loved them. All the parents took turns so it was only ours every couple of months or so. Maybe it was because ds (and most of his friends) were only children it gave them each company and fun at the weekend or maybe having them once every couple of months or so was worth it to have free "baby sitters" for a lot of the other 5-6 weekends in-between!

We had our fair share of nightmares the worse when a wasps nest was disturbed in the trees outside our garden when retrieving a ball and the wasps attacked and a few of them got stung several times. The house was reeking with vinegar doused children and dh had to run down to the supermarket for antihistimes (after checking with parents it was ok to give).

Ah sweet lord

I would be in pieces

Still not over the little one falling yesterday and hurting her hand
