Can I claim for this? *lighthearted*

FULL DISCLAIMER: Of course I'm not actually claiming for this, this is lighthearted so if anyone takes this seriously; give your head a wobble.

Backstory: I've had 2 poor nights' sleep, one because of getting back late from an evemt and having to get up early to travel and once cause I'm generally a shit sleeper. So I was looking forward to a comfy Premier Inn night before having to stay at chainsmoking MIL's house because it is fully booked for Saturday.

Fell asleep around 10.45. At 1am DS2 (12) decided tonight would be the night to try sleepwalking. DH found him trying to get out of the room, confused and nonsensical. DS2 immediately fell asleep once we got him into bed. We barricaded the door with our bags in case he did it again and I tried to not go into a blind panic about emergency exits.

At 2am DS1 (15) wakes up. His chest is tight (the room is warm and dry, there's no aircon and the fan is just moving hot dry air around). He had asthma as a younger child and hasn't had any issues for almost a year, and despite having promised me before we left he'd packed his inhalers and "OMG Mum will you chill? I've got them and I don't have asthma any more, stop"....guess what? Get him calmed down, propped up next to open window (as much as you can open any hotel room window), hydrated, turn off the fan cause its drying everything out more.

It's now 4.15. As far as any more sleep goes, all bets are off. Surely this falls under the guarantee thing and I can demand a refund?

Absolutely!
As if they haven't sleepwalk-proofed the room and provided spare inhalers?! Whatever happened to good hospitality these days?

Good luck OP. Are you up early in the morning?

DungballInADress · 26/08/2023 04:53

Breakfast at 9. To MILs by 10.30ish, staying overnight there tonight which is a whole different ball game. The only thing that is going to take the edge off that is some kind of tranquiliser.

Not the point of the thread but I didn't know premier inn did family rooms for 4! Only ever got a spare sofa in the room (does it fold out?)

DungballInADress · 26/08/2023 05:01

@allthehops yes it does! The second single is not as comfy as sofa bed but for short stays it's absolutely fine. It's cosy with 4 but absolutely doable and my DS's love the breakfast which is free for under 16s with a paying adult. DS1 is that constant teenage level of hungry and goes through continental, then cooked breakfast then goes back for a muffin. He makes it very good value for money....

Definitely covered under the sleep guarantee!

Hope things settle down for you, OP. Can you get an emergency inhaler? I'm guessing it won't help it being around MIL'S smoking
