Musical Instruments

Can you play any? Or can you sing?

Your other half or DC?

I am totally inept but DC is currently playing Pachelbel's Canon in D on the piano to cheer me up because he knows that's my favourite piece! Honestly it soothes my soul to listen to it.

DH can tinkle a bit but is quite good on the guitars.

So how musically talented are you/your family?
If you can't, do you have any aspirations to learn, or is it really a case of believing you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

I can sing and play several instruments to a good level (the combination of instruments would definitely be outing). Actually, I can get a reasonable sound out of any instrument you put in front of me… except the flute. Never been able to play that and I wish I could!

None of the rest of my family are musical at all. So don’t know where I get it from.

@LorraineInSpain
You sound amazingly talented!
Did you have lessons as a child or adult?
Don't give up on the flute!
I'm jealous lol 😂

Meant to also ask in OP what is your favourite piece of music, and
if you could choose to play any instrument well, what would you choose?
I've always fancied being a maestro on the cello! 😆
Actually DC is showing some interest in that too.

I play a couple of instruments, one to a high level, would love to teach or get my DC into music but they won't let me teach them and just refuse to attend any classes, clubs or lessons. So relying on them tinkering on a guitar in their bedrooms once they're teenagers haha. DP can fiddle around on a guitar a bit so I'm hoping either of the kids will have some musical leaning somewhere along the way.

I used to play the flute. I hated it but my mother liked James Galway. Pity she didn't learn it herself instead of inflicting it on me.

I like to listen but my dd sings and plays the clarinet, and my son actually makes money from downloads of weird sounds....oops sorry, I mean music...on Spotify.

I've done all my grades in flute and up to grade 6 piano . Currently learning 'cello.

My daugher plays piano and sax, one son 'cello and piano, next son piano and guitar , the 4th plays the drums ( I wanted him to play viola 🙄) and the smallet plays the trumpet !

Ds plays drums - very well, in a band, been recording today.
Dd is a singer, also in a band.
They're brilliant.
I play nothing and can't sing a note in tune, dh same, no clue where they get it from.

I play the piano - got to grade 6 but could have reached grade 8. Absolutely love it. From when I was tiny I could pick out tunes & now I can often work out the notes to a tune & play it without music. Also love improvising. One of my favourite ways to relax is to just sit & play whatever comes to me. So lucky to have that gift. I have a learning difficulty & was told that I shouldn’t be able to drive, play the piano or use a computer but my brain has adapted to do all three! I must admit though, I play the piano much better than I drive!
I played the oboe briefly at secondary school but found it difficult & kept “ losing my lip”. I would love to play the sax.
