How do I get a medication removed from my prescription?

I was put on sertraline (50mg) during covid times for some covid related anxiety.

I have wanted to come off it for a while and did so at the end of June (stopped filling my repeat) and eased off the meds as advised by a local pharmacist.

I have to have a medical soon and wondered if the gp will question it - will the fact I’ve not filled a prescription be enough to show I’m no longer taking it? Will I be in trouble for not coming off it with the advice of the gp?

Does anyone know how to get it officially removed from my prescription? Is it something the pharmacist can do or only the gp?

They won’t give a hoot

Just explain your rationale

Should I wait till the medical or try and sort it sooner?

It’s truly not something to “sort out”

go for your medical and explain

it wont matter at all. The GP can see from their records that you havent been getitng prescriptions so will know you have stopped it. They may check in with you that you are OK now youve stopped it, but other than that it wont matter. You can ask the GP to remove it from you repeat medication template - they would do this anyway once they knew you were no longer taking it though.

I think you're probably overthinking this OP

I’m sure I am overthinking, but I have to pass the medical in a few months - of which mental health makes up part of it and didn’t want it to raise questions! 🙈

Why do you “have to pass” the medical?

To become a foster carer.
