Y7 boy casual clothes?

Hi

Where do your Y7 boys shop for clothes?

My DS (10) is not interested (other than always wanting black). I bought a North Face top today but DH reckons its v uncool (well chavvy, he says).

I'm not sure where to look - I bought North Face was a big standard everyday brand!

Nike, under armour and Hollister are popular with my teens.

Lemonademoney · 18/08/2023 21:42

It is. However it is also a bit chavvy/ roadman - I say this as a parent of a child that owns North Face bits alongside Nike Pro Tech and even a (truly awful) Hoodrich cap 🤮 🤣

My Ds also likes Vans stuff and some of the surf brands too. I prefer these bits personally but am swiftly learning it’s not about my preference… welcome to the tweens…

He won't think that when he starts high school 😂. It's a uniform by another name! (Along with Nike)

My youngest is 12 and still isn’t particularly interested in clothes. It’s all about how they feel to him. He lives in shorts and T-shirts year round.

But I’d probably look at Nike if he cared. My other 2 have come out the other side of fashion, unless I’m buying of course! Vintage is the way to go.

My son is 11 and only wears the same few clothes, unbranded/ supermarket. I bought him a couple of plain t -shirts from Next for £5.50 each but he's yet to wear them. I spend very little on him as he's not great accepting new clothes. I'm guessing this will all change in year 7.

Comedycook · 18/08/2023 21:55

At that age my ds lived in football kit/training gear from sports direct.

AvengedQuince · 18/08/2023 21:55

Ds wore jeans, cargo trousers/shorts, and plain t-shirts in various colours (with small logos only, he likes hollister). The same now now going into year 13 except he has gone off jeans.

AvengedQuince · 18/08/2023 21:57

It was Next, H&M, M&S, second hand Boden jeans as they were slimmer fitting, when he was in children's sizes

TrustPenguins · 18/08/2023 22:02

Mainly football kits / sportwear here.
Brand wise, DS doesn't seem too bothered but would probably go for Nike or Adidas.
I generally shop at Next and H&M for him for anything other than active wear.

BakewellGin1 · 18/08/2023 22:05

At 11 DS wore Nike, North Face, Under Armour - Black/Grey etc

Now age 14 he still wears Nike but likes Gym King (who happen to have converted him to a broader colour palette 😂), Weekend Offender, CP Company. Lacoste... Edges on the Chav side however he is definately a smart/expensive/well groomed variety ha

I’ts a really hard age to buy for as mine is too small for Mens but there aren’t many shops that sell clothes for his age that actually fit him. He’s got size 8 feet and Is all arms and legs! Just had to buy age 15 school trousers but he’s only actually about 5 ft 3.

Some shops like River Island and Hollister do a 26 or 28 waist.

Thanks - I’ll have a look at those. It is so much easier when they can just wear mens sizing.

Jenn3112 · 18/08/2023 22:34

Random mix of sports brands, but mostly shorts and t-shirt all year round. He is 5foot 4 and does fit in small men's clothes though.

cocksstrideintheevening · 18/08/2023 22:36

Depends were you are, north face is a no go where I am, it's road man. Can you see what other kids are wearing were you are?

UnblurMe · 19/08/2023 10:34

I've had to Google the meaning of roadman...

Right - surf brands sound the way to go - any particular ones? (That might involve black?!)
