Velvetiser

I'm thinking of buying a Velvetiser - I love a good hot chocolate. However, I'm wondering if it's one of those items that you use a few times then it's relegated to the back of the cupboard ? Your comments would be appreciated.

Love mine and use every day. Charb & Walker much nicer than HC though (imvho).

Daily autumn and winter. Just a cheap asda version. Works just fine was about 20 quid

LightDrizzle · 18/08/2023 21:46

I use it almost everyday in winter but only roughly weekly in summer (we live in southern Portugal so it’s hot).

I love ours, I wouldn’t have bought it for the same reasons you are undecided, but it was an unsolicited gift from family.

Trash, the chocolate is rank.. i ended up using Cadbury's.. might as well just buy a milk frother. Honestly

IhearyouClemFandango · 19/08/2023 08:31

I've never used the HC chocolate, I just use one I bought on Amazon.

Lovegood · 19/08/2023 19:09

Can you just use Cadburys? I love hot chocolate but don't like the HC ones.

You can use whatever you want . We use Nesquik in ours .

Takeitonthechin · 19/08/2023 20:35

We use ours when the weather turns colder, we've just stocked up on chocolate sachets today

Screamingabdabz · 19/08/2023 20:39

I was just looking at all the different branded frothers today. All of the reviews say they all break after a while so this puts me off. Is the velvetiser really the only one to buy? It’s so much more expensive!

Good4you · 19/08/2023 20:42

Yes I use mine a lot but not when I’m trying to loose weight 😊

What does a velvetiser actually do?

It makes lukewarm 'hot' chocolate.

Similar to cheaper milk frothing things that do a better job of it.

I use mine every day and would replace immediately if it broke!!

Same!

I use it most days and actually mine broke recently and I almost immediately bought another

Asmrmebaby · 19/08/2023 22:09

If you have a Hotel Chocolat outlet shop it is worth going there for the discounted hot chocolate.

Runrabbitrun2 · 19/08/2023 22:12

What other chocolate do people put in theirs instead of HC?

I have the Nespresso one it's lasted two years of multiple uses per day

BigButtons · 20/08/2023 06:59

Lol- I thought it was the name of a sex toy😂

Mydogisamentalist · 20/08/2023 07:08

I fell for the hype but I don’t use it particularly often. I do like it though! Especially in the Autumn/Winter where it gets more use.

If I could go back in time I’d buy the Dualit milk frother. It does exactly the same thing and it’s £54. I didn’t realise when I bought it but the velvetiser is actually made by Dualit and they’re exactly the same product. They don’t even look that dissimilar!
