Neighbours shout and swear at their kids

Moved into a rented property at the beginning of this year and quickly found out my neighbours are LOUD. They have twins aged 5 and a 12 year old. The mum shouts, screams and swears at them all, including the twins. She tells them to f off, shut the f up, in fact it’s rare she speaks to them without swearing. The worst part is even when they’re crying after initially being shouted at the mum will continue to scream at them. I’ve heard one of the kids screaming to be let out of somewhere to which the mum says ‘no you need to learn it isn’t okay’ etc etc, is it normal to lock kids in a room as punishment? I’m at a loss at what to do. We’ve spoke a couple times about the noise where she’s given me a whole woe me spiel which initially I was sympathetic. She’s told me herself that someone reported her to social services a few months ago but nothing seems to have changed, if anything its got even worse.

Report them. To the police as well as SS.

This does not sound normal or acceptable at all. These are very young children.

If you have any doubts about reporting to social services then phone NSPCC who will advise you.

I don't think the 'let me out' is necessarily indicative of something being wrong by itself. Eg little one could have to stay in his room for 5 minutes as a consequence or something like that.

But the other stuff doesn't sound great either way.

Yeah, the let me out is a newer thing so I don’t know if the mum is just desperate and running out of ideas on how to punish. It just gets distressing when I hear it.

Children can shout stuff like that.
A neighbour did call 999 on my relatives cos her child was shouting let me out! Nothing untoward, they needed him to stay in there as bedtime etc etc.

But they don't scream and swear at their kids.

I don't know I just thought I'd say that about the 'let me out ' bit
