Compensation for delayed flight (two hours)

A two-hour delay in Europe means the airline should provide refreshments, doesn't it? Or have I misunderstood? There's no-one here to ask, of course.

Is it worth tweeting (X-ing??) the airline?

Definitely their fault (not weather, etc.).

Hi OP

Aww that sucks. You could be entitled to food and drink after two hours, this may help

https://www.caa.co.uk/passengers/resolving-travel-problems/delays-and-cancellations/delays/

Hope you aren't left hanging about too long. We've recently had a significant delay/eventual cancellation too - didn't know until just about to arrive at airport - so I feel your pain Confused

Sounds like as long as what you buy is "reasonable " and keep receipts

Good luck getting anything out of them if it is Ryanair.

It's BA. Their website says it has to be a three-hour delay, but the distance is just over 1,000k which would seem to put it in the category where a two-hour delay entitles you to refreshments.

I think BA are only 2hrs for over 1500km - hopefully someone who knows for sure can be more helpful.

It seems to be the opposite way round - compensation is triggered sooner for a shorter journey. I don't think BA would follow different rules if it's a legal thing.

Happy to be corrected, might be wrong but the difference in the numbers (2 hrs vs. 3) might be down to :

The CAA figures with the range criteria being for departure delay '- "while you wait for your flight",

BA.com refers to 3 hours with respect to delay at final destination.

They may have a "while you wait " page but I can't see it.
