The person who changed my life

He just popped into my head last night - from 44 years ago! Naturally, lots of people have changed my future: some for the worse and others for the better. Many of my teachers were greater positive influences than they knew, as my home life wasn't exactly encouraging.

44 years ago I started a new job as a sales trainee. The trainer, Steve Crane, did such a brilliant job that I made several career leaps, unprecedented at the time, and ended up in a truly lovely working environment where I made a lot of money and had a lot of fun. I'd had no idea such jobs existed, let alone that such a future would be within my reach.

Plenty of things went wrong along the way, naturally, but I'll never stop being grateful for my career, colleagues and the opportunities I gained. I taught Steve's methods to my own trainees, every single one of whom went on to do even better than me and who've thanked me in their trade interviews. I'm so proud of them, and it's all really to his credit.

Please do tell who changed your life!

My ex bfs mother helped me into a career I've excelled in which I never would have done without her support at the start.

My DD23

I was 18 when I had her and I’d stuck with her abusive arsehole of a father for 2 years…when she was a couple of months old I remember looking at her face, her eyes just locked on mine and thinking “We deserve so much better than this” I rang my dad, he picked me up and we left.
I had an amazing few years raising her on my own and I started a job I loved (that I wasn’t allowed to do when I was with her dad) I saved up my money, took her on holidays and had so much fun.
She’s the best DD I could have wished for and if it wasn’t for her, god knows where I’d be now.

These are brilliant. And well done, @GoodnightJude1! It takes guts to leave the arsehole with a baby - you definitely did the right thing, as you know. So pleased your independence worked out so well 😊
