Currently battling with what feels like the worst tonsillitis I've ever experienced. Full on head ache, body chills, temperature, extremely sharp throat and feel like I'm on deaths door, I cannot even get out of bed.

I've tried gargling salt water, lemon and honey, lemsip you name it. Any other recommendations?

Difflam spray from the chemist is a godsend for us. Hope you feel better soon.

Tyrozets if you can get them anywhere! Although I think they might be out of production now (I keep a backup stock!)

Also soluble aspirin is good and also chilled coconut water. It was all I could manage when I was in hospital with quinsy (tonsil abscess). Feel better soon OP, tonsillitis is awful.

antibiotics
soluble aspirin gargled with then swallow
difflam spray
chloralieve throat sweets
paracetamol/cocodamol

but really if you've got those symptoms I and v recurrerent sufferer DD will only improve with antibiotics, that sounds like full on bacterial infection.

What does it look like in there?

Difflam Spray
Antibiotics
Painkillers
Hot drinks

Strepsils but go with the Extra*
Salt water gargle
Dissolvable asprin/paracetamol
Heinz tomato soup.

*Strepsils standard lozenges contain antibacterial action only & Strepsils Extra lozenges contain antibacterial + anaesthetic action.

The only thing that would really sort it was antibiotics.

But would also take co-codamol for the excruciating pain.

Then I had an operation and got them removed. Best thing evet.

Homemade chicken soup.

Have that at the first signs of illness and I normally don't come down with it.
