Nice mint tea?

I've recently switched from regular tea to mint in an effort to minimize my caffeine intake. I initially picked up a peppermint tea from Lidl or Aldi (Diplomat brand) and quite enjoyed it albeit found it a tad weak.
Yesterday I thought I'd try something a bit ''fancier'' and picked up Twinings Pure Peppermint , I just brewed myself a pot and it tastes like toothpaste to me😅

I would like to try some other brands but hope to get some recommendations this time.
Please mint tea only as I do not really enjoy fruit ones!
Any brands worth a try?

Pukka 3 mint, delicious!

Hoppinggreen · 16/08/2023 16:20

I like Teapigs, not cheap though

doodleygirl · 16/08/2023 16:20

Pukka and tea pigs, very pricey

Fresh mint. Mint is impossible to kill. Just keep it in a pot otherwise it will take over your entire garden. It will die back in winter then regrow in spring. So you have around 9month of fresh mint tea

afaloren · 16/08/2023 16:25

Bird and Blend Mojitea is nice

Floribundaflummery · 16/08/2023 16:27

Use fresh mint from garden. Free. Ask for root from friend or neighbour if don’t have. I treated myself to a lovely glass teapot and it looks beautiful. Very My Cousin Rachel ‘tisane’!

Whataretheodds · 16/08/2023 16:29

Your toothpaste is likely to be spearmint so avoid that! I prefer peppermint.

Fresh mint is nice and a different vibe. Not always practical (or what I want)

AuntieJune · 16/08/2023 16:36

Twinings is terrible. A friend in the tea industry told me they put the good stuff in loose leaf packs, the teabags get the dust that's leftover. Yuck.

Clipper, Teapig, Pukka, but proper mint is the best. If you know where a plant grows near you, you can grow it quite easily from a cutting in water or pull up a bit of root and replant. Put it in a pot or you will have a garden full of it.

Another vote for Teapigs.

AuntieJune · 16/08/2023 16:37

You might also like Rooibos tea, it's a bit like tea but caffeine free - Ticktock is good.

Disturbia81 · 16/08/2023 16:38

I love the effects of mint tea but bored of the flavour and never finished my cup. Found pukka mint with liquorice and it's bloody gorgeous. Mint with an aniseed tang 🖤

WhenIWasAFieldMyself · 16/08/2023 16:42

Pompadour from Amazon. Cheap as chips and I can't tell the difference between that and the £££ organic mint teabags from some tea speciality place I got. (I drink loads of it for my gallbladder)

Greybeardy · 16/08/2023 17:16

tea pigs is good. If you’re feeling proper fancy Fortnum & Mason are good too (esp their mint & green tea).

I have killed mint (and ivy for that matter), I'm a different breed of gardener 😂

Caspianberg · 16/08/2023 17:28

@NewCracker - that’s impressive. I have been trying kill an unwanted patch it just pops up elsewhere

Aworldofmyown · 16/08/2023 17:29

Teapigs or fresh mint.

SamphiretheTervosaurReturneth · 16/08/2023 17:31

I have liquorice and peppermint Deluxe by Lidl.

Far nicer and cheaper than the Pukka version

Oooh thanks for this, pukka is a rip off but I love it

sparklins · 16/08/2023 20:36

thanks all!

I will definitely try some of these!
Funnily enough I was just thinking of growing some in a pot!

I wondered if this would be about Twinings! I agree, it's horrid.
I like Clipper. Much nicer.
For those saying mint is impossible to kill, it's not. I have. Blush

Roselilly36 · 17/08/2023 06:29

Pukka 3 mint tea, is the best I have found, smells and tastes so minty and fresh, would recommend.

Augustus40 · 17/08/2023 07:29

My mint died too. Unbelievable!
