I don't know but I feel like just walking away from everything and everyone right now. I won't because 1) the kids 2) no money.

And I'm on hrt so should be OK!

BansheeofInisherin · 16/08/2023 17:22

I think wanting to walk away from everything is very, very common at this age. Suddenly you have more time, and therefore more time to think.

Is there any way you can be kinder to yourself or take more time for yourself or allow yourself some treats? ( hard if you are struggling with the CoL).

calmcoco · 16/08/2023 17:26

This is 'how long is a piece of string' territory. Sorry that's not helpful but it's true.

How long have you been finding things tough? How much is age, how much is peri & how much is your specific issues is completely individual.

Do you want to give any more info?

Needingacoffee · 16/08/2023 17:26

I wish I knew myself. I am right in midlife crisis. Peri combined with a few health issues is a complete nightmare... Just want to feel better, and not all over the place. Think my hrt patches aren't working so well now either.

kelsaycobbles · 16/08/2023 17:30

Menopause affects women so differently and many will not experience the crisis feeling you describe , others it will be a month or two , others decades

However if it is affecting you badly then FFS get to your doctor to at least try HRT

Spirallingdownwards · 16/08/2023 17:32

9 years and counting but changed with HRT

BansheeofInisherin · 16/08/2023 17:36

I misread and thought the OP was on HRT. I have recently started- no change yet- but will keep going.

MrsTired1983 · 16/08/2023 17:36

Does hrt cause weight gain at all? I've worked hard recently to get to a 'happy' weight and feel confident. Terrified I'll go back to feeling like potato.

I'm only 40 but early menopause is in my family, I'm fairly certain I've been peri for about a year.

I’ve had a terrible six months, since turning 47.
And I was fine last year, on top of my health, looked great, felt great. It came out of nowhere! Hoping to come out the other side, before Christmas… State of my marriage is contributing to my midlife crisis, it has to be said.

BansheeofInisherin · 16/08/2023 17:42

I am not having the best time myself. The events of the last few years are catching up with me. It's a time of life when you wonder: what is it all for anyway? Also sad about empty nest and the DC moving out. DH has a very stressful job and we are not getting along so well.

However, I have managed to lose weight and feel good about that, at least. I look pretty ok. I just feel old and tired.
