Has anyone used any of those companies that offer money for clothes by their weight?

I have so many clothes that were bought second hand at the start or were given to me that would probably fill quite a few black bags. Does anyone know if these company still exist and if they are worth using just for the convenience?

They will go through the bags and only take the very best things that are in near perfect condition then they'll give you a few pence for them.

Oh really? I had no idea.

I’ve just double checked the local one I’ve seen and it’s called CashForClothes. It looks like they take wearable clothes in decent condition. 0.50p per kilo. Perhaps I need to sort it all. Weigh it abd make a decision whether it’s worth a trip to them.

Cash for Clothes, used them a couple of times when I can't be arsed ebaying/vinted and just want the stuff gone. In my experience they hardly check the bags, they open to check its clothes but it's a cursory glance, never been properly checked or questioned and I've thrown all sorts in there. It's never a lot of money, but it gets it out of the house, so that's good enough for me.

I made £20 form it. Has about 7 bin bags, they didn’t root through, just looked in the top to see it wasn’t any forbidden items. Then just came to my house, weighed them and took them away. Paid via PayPal on the doorstep before they left.

£20 for seven bin bags sounds a bit crap doesn’t it 🥴

Yeah it really does seem crap for 7 bags

i give mine to a local cats protection who sort out the best stuff (that I usually forgot to return to the online shopping place) and weigh in the rest

appreciate some people need the money from their clothes but I’d rather a charity get the money

They're scams.

If you are a My John Lewis card holder OP then you can trade in five items of clothing ( excluding underwear) that’s in good condition for a fiver off something over £20 or £25 pound in clothing I believe a ( check the website). It might be worth holding some good bits back to do this ( free to join and there are some good benefits) and making use of it when their is another offer on.

autienotnaughti · 16/08/2023 03:41

I took a couple bags they check to make sure your not weighing it down. I got less than a fiver!

Perspectiveplease1 · 16/08/2023 07:49

i was surprised how little it was for so much (most of it was brand new kids stuff with tags too that we’d been gifted and they’d never worn) but I just wanted it gone so didn’t mind!

That’s how I feel. I have so much I think I just want it gone. Even if I get a tenner I can spend the tenner on some school uniform.

never let clothes go without payment. I let a courier pick up some bags years ago and never saw the clothes again or any payment.
