The pyjamas of poorliness

DH is rarely ill. When he is it is big time. I know he is ill tonight as the Pyjamas of Poorliness have come out.

He has a cyst at the back of his throat. It was caused by trauma when he pulled out his Breathing tube 20 months ago whilst on ITU. He was ( and I quote) off his tits at the time.

So this cyst likes to get infected every so often.

We have been to the doctors yesterday afternoon and have the antibiotics but they haven't had time to start working. Swallowing his spit is too painful so I am lying here listening to him spit into a pot whilst moaning.

Called his work already as DH can't talk that well - he is a HGV driver, not slept and therefore not safe.

What a bloody night!

Are you feeling sorry for him or yourself...that does sound very painful...maybe get a throat spray it helps numb it for a while, available on prescription or the pharmacy.
Hope you both get some sleep tonight 😴
Hope he recovers quickly.

That sounds pretty deserving of the poorly pajamas! Not pleasant to listen to for you though, hopefully those antibiotics kick in quickly.

DoughnutDreams · 15/08/2023 02:28

It's hardly the dressing gown of doom level of pathetic if it's an injury from being extubated in ITU!

Still, I'm sure listening to the spitting is pretty bloody annoying.
Hopefully he recovers soon.

Salt water gargle and get the Dressing Gown of Doom ready if he is able to leave bed tomorrow. Hope he feels better soon.

Cross Post on the DGoD!

I can’t work out if you’re taking the piss or feel sorry for him.

I remember not being able to swallow even my own saliva with tonsillitis which was bad enough. An infected cyst in your throat sounds dreadful. I hope he’s feeling better soon and you both manage to sleep.

ColinRobinsonsFart · 15/08/2023 02:35

I am feeling sorry for him - we both call his pyjamas' the pyjamas of poorliness' it's our joke.

He is such a trooper normally- very stoic, not one for making a fuss. I am seriously ill at the moment and have mobility issues but I have managed to look after him for a change.

He keeps apologising

Poor old bugger

Making ice lollies with electrolyte solution or smoothies might help if he's struggling to eat over the next few days.

Netaporter · 15/08/2023 02:42

Oh dear. Could you try the Chloroseptic throat spray with the numbing ingredient?

ColinRobinsonsFart · 15/08/2023 02:46

He had some spray - but it's run out. I will organise to get some tomorrow. He is gargling with salt water.

It will burst soon and then it will get better.
Gp has given him another course of antibiotics to keep for the next time.

You need heat to burst a cyst really and without the possibility of a compress applied to the area maybe a slightly hotter solution? Not boiling obvs.

Or pop over to Sporners Corner. They love to give advice on all spot-related matters 😂

Mullingthediy · 15/08/2023 03:00

He could try gargling with soluble asprin. I was told they advise throat cancer patients of this to help with their symptoms. I often have a sore mouth due to food allergies and it helps me.

MysteryBelle · 15/08/2023 04:34

I can tell you’re very fond of him ‘the pyjamas of poorliness’ 😃♥️ he needs a little extra care right now. I get it. A cold soothing drink maybe? Hope he feels better soon. Love the ‘dressing gown of doom’ pp said too. Hopefully you will get some sleep 💤

Poor bugger.

Sounds miserable.

whatchagonnado · 15/08/2023 05:36

I would send him back to the GP. It sounds really bad. Can he breathe ok?
