I am not hopeful for dd she has autism and has really struggled. However, the course she has signed up for has gone into clearing.

Does this mean if she doesn’t get the results she still may get on the course?

If she doesn’t get the results she needs, she should phone them up and see if they’ll still accept her with her grades.

If she’s missed them by a long way she may not get on even if the course is in clearing due to vacancies. They’d be looking for students who had missed out on their first choice universities but still met their entry criteria - e.g if they were offering BBB and a student missed a place at another university as they got ABB but needed AAA. Hope that makes sense.

Ok thank you.

So i don’t suppose you know if parents are allowed to communicate on behalf of their children? She has autism so it’s really hard for her to speak on the phone?

@ItsDisneyBitch This is a really good thread about results day, clearing and what uni departments look at when someone misses their grade. The poster JoanThursday goes into full detail at what they look at.

What I will add is that if your DD is going into sixth form to collect her results she will be supported by staff there and they can help guide her if she has missed her grades and not got her uni place. If you can be outside be ready in case she wants to talk everything through with you. We saw a couple of students come and tell their parents their results and they went inside to talk to the careers people about their next steps. Some colleges allow parents inside to collect the results.

When she filled in her ucas form she should have nominated someone to speak on her behalf, we usually say her head of sixth form.
