Selling Second Hand Jewellery

I know very little about the jewellery industry and even less about how to sell pre-owned jewellery etc so I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction please?

I have been left some jewellery in a relative's will. Some is beautiful and also has sentimental value, which I will keep. But some is not to my taste and doesn't remind me specifically of my relative (she also told me before she died that I should sell what I didn't want).

She loved Mikimoto and has some earrings from them. Very similar earrings are being sold in a local branch of a well-known UK chain for just over £3,000.

I popped in to see if they would buy them from me but they won't. They directed me to Mikimoto, who also don't buy pre-owned items.

I've searched online 'sell pre owned jewellery in my area'-type thing but haven't found much to inspire confidence.

Can anyone help?

Sorry for your loss.
In my experience you can’t get much for old jewellery unless it’s really rare and valuable. You can’t use the selling price of a similar brand new item as a guide. For example I was only offered £75 for a 70-year-old gold ring with 3 diamonds. Similar rings cost in the hundreds brand new.
In your position I’d get them valued by 3 different valuers to get a realistic idea of what they’re worth.
EBay has a lot of second hand jewellery, so do some research on how much similar items tend to sell for.

I've just been through similar dealing with the estate of a family member.

I sold a lot of her jewellery through a local (good) auctioneer. They valued everything for me and I could decide what I wanted in the sale or not.

They were able to tell me what would sell well, and pointed out items which would not attract high bids. They were spot on on all counts. They put different items in different sales according to their values.

I'm in the NW if you want their details.

Brand name eg Mikimoto sells well on Vestiaire collective , if you are realistic on price. Do you have provenance (receipts/valuations etc)
