Who has saved your life?

Apart from all the usual vaccinations, water companies, sanitation, NHS, etc that give us a safe, risk free life, when most of us would die before 50 without this... can anyone point to someone or something and say "they saved my life"?

@DownNative 💐 Terrifying.
I lived in the Isle of Man in the eighties. One of my neighbours kept guns by the door, just in case.

The support and love of my friends saved my life quite a few times.

My Dad when I was about 5 it was the middle of the night and something made him spring out of bed and he came running to me, I'd been sick in my sleep and I was laying on my back and it had covered my airways and I wasn't breathing if it hadn't been for my Dad I would have died in my sleep.

A call handler for the ambulance service after I'd had my 3rd DC, I was at home and I knew I was dying, I managed to ring 999 and within seconds the lady on the other end said I know my love and the ambulance is already on it's way and she kept me on the line till she knew they had me and I was safe, I'd had loads of placenta left inside me, I was rushed into surgery as soon as I was at the hospital and I had to stay in an intensive room for a week whilst they battled to save my life,if that lady hadn't been so on the ball I wouldn't be here now.

My Husband When I was having my last and 5th DC everything that could go wrong did go wrong and the consultant and one of the midwife's got into trouble for they're screw ups, I ended up with a room full of people and was being injected with warfarin and I ended up with clots on my lungs,just when everything had calmed down and the room was emptier my DH noticed that the same flaming midwife had stuck a special drip in I needed but not turned it on and I was bleeding to death,the room was like something out of the shining.

I feel like I've constantly been playing it with the Grim Reaper and he must hate me by now!😁

Several other times I've nearly died(lucky I know)but I didn't want to fill a whole page.

To the letter.

A chaplain, Gus, who works in the crisis centre on top of Beachy Head. He talked me down from the darkest place I've ever been in and I would absolutely not be here without him. I will forever be grateful I get to stay, and live, the life I love now.

Speaking of guns, my father was authorised to take his weapon home with him as well. Kept high out of reach of us kids, but within his easy reach. My mother never liked that either, but knew it was necessary due to the Provos.

I have a relative who moved from Northern Ireland to the Isle Of Man too! Small place.

@DownNative I have a relative who moved from Northern Ireland to the Isle Of Man too! Small place.

In those days there was a lot of interaction between the island and NI. My first job in the IoM, 1980, I worked with a girl who told us all, happily, 'I'm hiding my IRA boyfriend!' 😮I was new to the 'li'l island' and kept my head down.

My boss. Who is now one of my closest friends. She doesn’t know this but she gave me a job at the darkest time of my life. Her attitude and life outlook rubbed off on me and changed things for good. I also met my partner through her and we have a baby now. My life wouldn’t be everything that it is if it weren’t for her.

A chap who was working at my house. It was complex work , very involved, needing lots of different ideas and conversations. My husband had died about eight months before, and I’d really come to the end of the road. Grief is incredibly tiring and I just didn’t have the strength to go on any longer. After a few months I developed a huge crush on this man, even though he was twenty years younger than me, fortunately he felt the same. A mad affair ensued, me waiting for text messages, listening to Amy Whinehouse at all hours, it was mad and fabulous. The sex was mind blowing. He literally saved my life, no doubt. It all petered out of course, but we’re still friends. I’ve since learned about ‘Widows Fire’, and that was me at the time.
Happily, I later met a gorgeous man of my own age , but I’ll never forget the one that saved me.

This is amazing

The young man who stopped and picked me up when I flagged his car down having escaped several hours of imprisonment and assault from my ex. My ex was pursuing me with a knife in a drug induced rage. I owe him my life.

@Messyhair321

i cannot begin to comprehend what that must have been like. It would be bad enough if it were an isolated incident but by what you said it was part of a much bigger story. I’m so sorry

Thank you for your kind words, it's ok I keep my distance now after realising that they're never going to change & I'm better off without their neglect.
I really believe that some people should never have children.
