Loss of taste and smell with covid - what did you eat?

Currently suffering from covid for the first time ever and my taste and smell has completely gone. I don’t really feel like eating anything because I can’t taste it - but obviously I know I need to even if just small portions.

If you have been through the same thing, what did you eat? Praying that this symptom only lasts a few days 😢

Really boring stuff. Porridge, yogurt, fruit, omelettes, pikelets. No point cooking something elaborate I couldn't taste. I lost 10lbs too.

I had covid this time last year and still don't fully have my smell or taste back. It's very frustrating! I enjoy things that are crunchy! I've gone off a lot of things too, especially chocolate,it feels like eating a candle, this is probably a good thing though! In the past few months I've been able to taste spices and can now distinguish the difference between a curry and chilli con carne for example. I can sometimes taste coffee and mint too,I'm hoping this is a sign of things coming back 🤞🏻 I've recently been able to catch a slight whiff of coffee and could faintly smell an orange somebody was peeling the other day.
I hope things improve for you soon and hope you're not feeling too rough!
Take care.

I remember being able to eat my mum's vindaloo heat madras before, it was mad, I'm a masala girl normally. A friend lost his taste and smell for quite a while and said the only thing he enjoyed was strawberries.

@TinkerbellefromYorkshire I hope you're better much soon. My mum's just caught covid after her holiday and she's feeling awful. She has COPD and autoimmune conditions, but on another medication that lowers her immune system further. I'm quite worried 😟

I just ate what I was cooking for the family. And I kept smelling essential oils and thinking about what they should smell like. It took about 2 weeks for my sense of smell to begin to return.
