I have a browse at cars from time to time on autotrader, mainly to feed a fantasy that at some point I would be able to get an EV but it is just a fantasy

Anyway I browse a number of different types too and noticed the other day that cars are no longer advertised as ULEZ compliant, which I thought was odd

Or I couldnt see any but all the cars I looked at would have been

I think vans for work men but I also think that it won't be too bad until it's countrywide.

Anything electric.

You can pick up a two year old Hyundai Iconic for 14k.

That's less than half price.

Lots of places don't have Ulez, has it impacted prices everywhere?

FlamingYam · 07/08/2023 19:49

Not yet @wigywhoo

It will only affect prices when the supply and demand are not in line either way. So if the market is saturated with non compliant vehicles, they will be worth less. Simples.

We dont live anywhere near the London one (other cites have their equivalents) but need to get to family/caring duties so both our cars have to be ULEZ, plus partner works in London and has a v long commute.

daytriptovulcan · 07/08/2023 19:58

Disels older than 2015 will be good value and even cheap, if you dont go to the ulez. Everyone in London is selling theirs.

JassyRadlett · 07/08/2023 20:01

You might find the drop has already happened. ULEZ has been inside the North and South Circular for a couple of years and the extension has been known about for a year. When we sold our old (non-compliant) car in January we certainly got less for it than we would have done for the same car in the previous years.

wigywhoo · 07/08/2023 20:03

@bellac11 fair enough. Not encountered one yet. We live in the shires.

I understand supply and demand, thanks. Where I am clearly ignorant about is the extent to which these zones have proliferated such that the market is significantly impacted by them specifically.

Ok so 2014 and earlier, diesels?

Any other?

If you're on LinkedIn follow cap hpi. They release a quarterly update on car values.

Only euro5 diesels and older are affected. They will not plummet for years yet. By then all ICE will.
