What do you have on top of your chest of drawers?

I know this may the dullest question ever asked on MN, but there you go. 😂

I have two side my side chest of drawers in a little bedroom that need 'something'. I have a mirror and trinket pot on one and a lamp on the other. I don't like clutter but it looks like something is missing. They're quite small so don't want too much on there but any suggestions please?

A lamp on each side. On mine, some nice hand cream and whatever book I am reading. On my husband's side, a stack of magazines and books and annoying teetering piles of coins.

Looks at chest of drawers, thinks must clean the crap mountain off the top, goes back to reading Mumsnet.

My tumble dryer 😂

Probably not what you're looking for though!

I have a small silver tray which has sides, on it is a reed diffuser and small plant. Plants are great in the bedroom for cleaning the air you breathe and removing toxins. You can get tiny ones at most garden centres.

My bedside tables have (large) matching lamps on them. That's it, officially.

A basket of clean washing. Always. But at least it's a nice wicker basket!

tunainatin · 27/11/2023 22:18

Oh and the clean washing is not always the same obviously.

I love the dragons @MalibuBetty :)

I don't currently have a chest of drawers as I don't currently have a bedroom. I've had builders in since July and have been camping in the makeshift kitchen/sitting room.

3 in our room.

On the one by my bed, a huge pile of books still to be read, an alarm clock we never use set to the wrong time, a water flask and cup, and my pile of tablets I take.

On the talk one where dh's clothes are at the foot of the bed we have a lovely cloth we bought on holiday in Guatemala, an alarm clock I can't read without my glasses on, and some antique panda ornaments (I love pandas).

On dh's side of the bed it's a couple of books, water flask and cup and his CPAP machine for his sleep apnoea.

My Baby's remains, memory box, well a Peter rabbit lunch bag with cards etc inside it and some teddies on one side and my DCats ashes, a card with his paw and nose print, a little bottle with his fur and a box with some of his whiskers in, on the other side and a wooden cats leave paw prints on your heart plaque hanging on the mirror above and another saying a spoilt rotten Cat lives here on, placed on top of the chest of drawers. I should really move everything off and give it good dust and Polish though.

A lamp, a stack of decorative books with a candle on top and a small piece of pottery I bought on a whim on a day trip recently.

The other one is a bit bigger (2nd bedroom) has a bigger lamp, some books propped up with a bookend, a vase and a tiny pottery ghost I popped there during halloween and haven't the heart to put away.

My aspiration would be nothing but a light and a pin tray as I don't like clutter. I reality... My Echo Show, a tablet being charged, my phone being charged, a box of tissues, a pin tray, a mini packet of mini cheddars, a book.....And often other random stuff.

Agadoodoo · 28/11/2023 09:21

Piles of crap (not literally) and dust.
